This event was fun. I'm sorry leebs didn't make it, although had he seen all that cargo he might have had an infarction.
I would like to see the next convoy offer a bit less of a swarm of bees AI. They appeared to constantly respawn which effectively prevented us from taking down a connie, even with 5 bombers. It should be possible to removed the bulk of the escort, especially when we have such a massive force.
Great event, I don't have internet so I played from the coffee shop, it was worth the trip! I look forward to the next one!

"Maybe somebody took some screenshots.."
Screenshot, or it didn't happen. Love it ;)
I was unable to check it out due to time zone, however it is great to read how well it went considering... and the scale of it too.
+1 for Raptors.. my favourite ship, regardless of quirks.
- Taele.

Yes, the Uber Raptors were cool. Anyone know if we'll be seeing more of them?

Aye, I enjoyed the event. The Uber Raptors were awesome, as was the tequila! :)
Unfortunately, 2Dollar-Hooker Media decided to cut me halfway, so... BLARGH!!! :(
But otherwise, aye, it was very fun.

The swarms of raptors with LENBs were sweet. It was very hard to get out of a sector unless you had something faster than 200m/s, the high accel and low drain combined with the dps of the lenb's made those suckers great warpkillers. I heard reports some of them had megapositrons to, any comment on that?
They were all the same raptors, none of them had megaposis, just law enforcement neuts. There may have been some other escort ships that had megaposis, I'm not sure.
Did anyone get any cool screen shots of the convoy?
I was out drinking & missed this... did someone mention tequila?
Leebs, ya missed the Event AND tha takillya!! They had both types, synthetic and REAL!!
There was real tequila in the voy?!
The Dark Convoy was much fun. I enjoyed it, the reinforcements near the end was a bit of overkill but otherwise it was great.
Someone asked for some screen caps, which would be nice, but to be honest, I would be happy with just a run down of what the scenario was, what the outcomes were, etc. I'm reading this thread and the suggestions thread, and really have no idea what happened as I missed it :(
I generated a really big convoy of behemoths and centaurs and capships, and took it through all of grayspace, starting near the Serco and ending up in Edras. The convoy was carrying a new trade item, "Synthetic Tequila", that appeared to be of low value but is actually quite high value after a few weeks.
The convoy was kind of undefended, due to the logic that was being used (the turrets on the capships would aggro easily, but nothing else would), so whenever I jumped into a sector with a lot of players, I would manually spawn a bunch of raptors to chew them up (apparently, I spawned too many). The raptors didn't follow the convoy, or actually respawn at all, but they did make for a lively and intense combat scenario in the given sector.
When I got to the end I kind of ran out of options, so I made a bunch of other capships come in and battle the convoy for awhile, and then spent the convoy away.
That was how it was from my perspective, anyway. It looked pretty crazy at times.. like 50 ships warping in at once was amazing. I may have kept the convoy moving too fast for some of the desired bombing tactics (and made too many raptors), but I was concerned about overloading any individual sector, so I intentionally tried to keep it spread out. I'll do things differently next time (or next time I attempt anything like that, not necessarily this exact case).

That alone would have made my day! One of the things that's always bothered me is the general lack of truly crazy-busy transit routes/wh's. Quiet places are great, but they really need busy places to balance them out and provide contrast/context.
Anyway, from the sounds of it, aside from a few people who seemed to be a bit unhappy about the pvp aspect of VO, it was quite the all round success. Look forward to more in the future; hopefully I'll actually make it in to participate.

I was only able to show up for a few minutes, but it was definitely worth seeing. And I agree with Snax, it would be nice to see more convoys running, even though at the moment they don't have an effect on trade. It would just make the place seem more... lively. And since raptors/vultures/capships can be used to defend the convoy from pirates, it's not like you'd be just putting fish in a barrel.
Please give a bit more notice for the next one so I can turn up, otherwise, it sounds cool. :)
If you'd paid attention to the newsletters that GS mails out periodically, you would have had at least a week or two notice. I'm pretty sure this kind of thing isn't planned on a longer timescale than that.
I have three email addresses and they all get spammed to varying degrees, so missing a single email is not that hard.
That really sounds like a problem that GS should worry about, Resta.
To be fair, for future, more organized events, a forum posting a few days before would be a nice. The mention in the email is slightly vague (date, no time, no specifics), not to mention buried in the middle of the email.
