Newbie Joystick Question
I just joined yesterday and my first impressions are very, very favorable. However, I’m having one technical glitch. My Joystick POV hat is not working. It works fine in other games. I’m running Windows 7 64 with a Saitek X52 Pro joystick using their most current drivers. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
What is it that you are trying to make the hat do? Are you trying to make it give you various POVs?
Yes, just trying to view right, left, up or down with out changing the direction of the ship.

Anyway, if there isn't a setting for various POVs, try using the keyboard section to bind it to something else. e.g. Strafe left, Bind key=Move POV hat left.

No you can't do that.
Devs: take note. In addition to having been requested several times by people who have played the game for a while, this lack-of-feature is also confusing to newbs. Please implement.
Add it to the pile. They'll implement it when it makes sense to do so - probably some day when they have to mess with the "camera" code.

No, I imagine they'll implement it when their extremely limited resources allow them to. It is what it is, let's not confuse that with when it "makes sense" to put in a much-requested and fairly basic feature.

Dont get me wrong... i think the game has real potential but the total ass***s playing the game (not all, but a large number) and the lack of empathy towards newbie questions will always mean this game never really competes with other MMOs out there. I asked simple questions last night on the sound issues and joystick sensitivity (sound i resolved, from my own knowledge as no-one could be bothered to respond in a humane fashion; joystick issue still an issue - cant adjust the sensitivity). All i got back was smart ass rhetoric with jabs that frankly seemed to come from kids with macs...or adults whom bask in front of their notebooks each night as they have no friends... I am unsure whether to join due to these reasons, shame as i know a strong space flight sim following...
@welshtrekker :: For joysticks see the guides but also post on the forum under your operating system and play with your deadzones and other items in the config, sounds like you're a whiner using windows so the prejudices run either way.

And then the many minions of our great community would rise up to defend the glorious operating system that is Vendetta Online, and you would totally have your answer in like four minutes!
By the way, anyone know how to get sound working consistently in Fedora? It seems that if I have more than one application using sound, I run the risk of the sound cutting out for one of them. Flash seems to be a pretty big culprit, but it happens with other things too.

as for the OP since this game functions like a FPS i never really thought that suggestion was a big deal to put in cause even games where you can do that I hardly ever do, but to each their own.

Well the first step would be to run
rpm -qal | grep "pulse.*\.so" | xargs rm
as root. The next step probably has something to do with installing alsa.
