PC-BSD - will Vendetta work?
Just curious if anyone is running PC-BSD or another flavour of BSD that has Vendetta working? (just thinking of experimenting a bit)
It should, using the Linux compatibility layer that PC-BSD inherits from FreeBSD. I'd like to hear about it if anyone has actually done this recently.
It used to work on FreeBSD. No clue whether it does any more, and whether PC-BSD is close enough for it to work there, too.
PC-BSD is FreeBSD, with a graphical installer and package manager. Anything that runs on FreeBSD will definitely run on PC-BSD.
Well, time to set it up in a VM and play around with it.. hopefully this weekend I'll have some time.
Still curious if anyone has done this recently though, as ladron had mentioned.

The PC-BSD founder guy told me it works, a long time ago. He wanted me to roll a VO package, but I kind of forgot about it.

No better time than now, eh? ; )

I can think of a lot of better times than now. And if I dig into rolling a package, it'll probably be for Ubuntu first.
I've got a PC-BSD partition that I have been messing with on and off... once I get X working vendetta will be one of the first things I install.
Inc: I was kidding. Distro-specific packages are a waste of time. If the PC-BSD guy wants a Vendetta package, he should bloody well make his own. Same for Ubuntu.
Flyingglama: What kind of crazy-ass graphics card are you using?

I used to run VO on PC-BSD. It works perfectly. It takes some time and effort to get working though. It will work exactly the same with any FreeBSD setup, not just PC-BSD.
@ladron: ATI under *nix is almost always interesting.
Yes it is, flyinglama. I use an ATI card as well, and it's a pain in the ass. I'll be ordering a Quadro as soon as I can justify the expense.
I've been able to get X working on FreeBSD on this machine, though not particularly well...
