A general statement about threads and comments

Aug 15, 2009 Kierky link
Hi guys, I am very regular on this site, and I would like to request that if you start raving on about a particular effect in-game, please take a screenshot, and post a link to it, not place it in the thread. This would make it a lot easier for most people who aren't in-game at the time to have an idea of what you're talking about and have an idea without waiting a million years for the ss to load. Generally it's very frustrating to see a thread that take some 2 minutes to load because it's been killed with the images of people putting it into the thread instead of a link. This is because I have a relatively slow connection speed, and would still like to see the pictures at request instead of having it forced upon me.

Thanks to anybody who would take a little time to think about the needs of other people before making a statement or post ;)

Yeah, I concur. Unless the image is quite small (say, 300x250 or smaller), I would prefer that people didn't embed them. Links are better.

I'm on a fast connection, and the download time is not an issue, but some of the embedded images have been at very wide resolutions, which then throws off the page layout for the rest of us. Plus it's easier to read a thread that has links, instead of large gaps filled with embedded images.

On some boards the custom is to put a warning in the header but Linking is the best way.

Yeah, unless the image is very small in KB I post a link. But yes, us "high-bandwidth" folks should learn to treat the "low-bandwidth" folks with respect. Maybe Obama will pass a law or something that will keep us all equal.

Incarnate or otherwise, could you please sticky this thread, for the new guys?

If so, I should probably make a new thread that's called "Please link to images, not inline them". This name is a little ambiguous.

beyond a 'little' ambiguous. It even calls itself a general statement. Then you get a very specific topic. It's madness.
