*** Vendetta 1.8.85
- Asteroid sectors in Deneb now have a disableable turret. When the turret is disabled, a fighter skirmish begins.
- New detail textures for bone asteroids.
- Added ice refraction resolution setting for DirectX 9 driver. The High setting uses more video memory.
- Fixed DirectX 8 driver so it properly fails to load compressed textures instead of displaying white textures.
- Small optimization for most shaders.
- Fixed certain missions so they no longer choose training sectors as destinations.
- NPCs that have logged off no longer show up in the Bar.

wow! The new ice refaction high setting is ace! The roids look sooo much better for a distance, yay :)

Whats the point of the turrets in deneb roid sectors though?

I think its like, Serco players go pop em, and then like Itani stations post a skirmish to counter em, or something.

ye just asked inc. fighter skimirshs are now in roid sectors so whoever wins gets a turret to stop the other nation entering that sector. Whats happened to the x1 though:

I also posted a fighter-battle clarification to News.

I dunno what's up with your Valk, breazle. I saw one tonight and it looked fine. Could be location? If issue persists, please post to Bugs.

Screenies? Please?

This sounds cool, hope it leads to me being able to own my own sector some day.

Yeah, uh... Goliath cannons for large scale battles? Maybe?

Also, good job! I can't wait to see where you go with this sort of thing.

I've lately noticed that aerna seekers have off-white 'windows' on them in place of the normal yellow color.. Could be related to breazle's problem?

Could it be related to the individual computers and the graphics settings that are used?

Breazle's problem should have been addressed in 1.8.85.1, released a few hours ago. There were some issues in one particular shader.

yep, thanks =D

The disableable turrets work well, though some some audio/ visual feedback that they have hit 0 % would be nice.
A bit of fire and the mine drop Clang perhaps ?

Taking the Border Patrol mission the opposing nations NPC's attack the turret, when it is disabled the fighter skirmish spawns. Likewise the turret is chasing/ shooting at the NPC's.

It was kinda cool when the fighter skirmish began and I was getting BP credit for NPC skirmish kills but I always thought BP was for newer people, learning to dodge and level up combat/weapon licenses. If that's the way you want to keep it something should be done with the turret in C-10.

BP is not for newer people. It was quite simple in its previous iteration, which is perhaps where you got that idea. Expect more conquest and more complexity.
