Well.. if we cant have a server all of our own with all teh origional changes, can we old folks at least have the 9 sectors with our old ships set bck to their origional stats? And only have our old weapons for sale? and an old economy?

@devs: can you put the blue ions on sale? blue ions defined me in the 3.0 and 3.1 days.

Ok people, hijack the 3.1 release from them, crack the client so you can change game servers, set up a server with 3.1 on it.

I don't think it would be hard to backtrack. There are still some sectors that are nearly identical to their 3.1.x counterparts. We know that the blue ions are still there. We know that all the old ship models are there. It would be a matter of reverting the ship availability, reverting the weapon damage/speed values and availability, reverting the engines, reverting the ship agility, and reverting some of the sector designs. All the added features like buyback, improved bots, and flaming ships are actually good and would probably be better off left in.

The only major drawback I see is finding the bandwidth and hardware to run this second server (for the old version). We can't rule out the fact that this old school version won't happen. In fact some of the devs miss the old deathmatch arcade style. But that's not to say the new Vendetta will suck or anything. I think in the end they'll actually feel like two completely different games. There's still the possiblity that a "lite" version of Vendetta can be released once the final game is done, for those who miss the old school stuff. Never say never, but don't hold your breath--they do after all have to spend whatever free time they have left to get the final game out.

I don't see the need for this "Old-school server." It just seems to me like you guys just wanna go back to the good-ole days before Vendetta was filled with all these new people and the gameplay got all complex. Let me just say to you: "Go play "Descent"" An Old _School server would be a waste of time and money for the developers.

Pavan obviously wasn't around for the good old days. That or he got wasted with ships and weapons that were actually balanced.

I didn't think so. I liked 3.1.(early) In 2.x the heavys were too good and those of us in lights got raped.

i'm just saying use hte same server and all. Just set up 9 sectors within the curretn univers that are not connected to teh current ones. Then put only the old people in em. Maybe put the ship stats back to their good ol' selfs.
