Vendetta Online 1.8.77

Jun 20, 2009 Surbius link
Welcome to Vendetta Online 1.8.77

Changelog:

*** Vendetta 1.8.77
- Added Detail Textures to some asteroids. These can significantly
increase surface detail when nearer to the object, under some
circumstances. Only compatible with Shader 2.0 hardware, or
better. See Dau G11 for example.
- Turrets on player-owned ships can no longer be a part of weapon
firing groups.

Stupid new graphics features coming out when I've only got this bloody GMA 950. :-(

I would just like to note that ATI 9500s to 9800s support Pixel Shader 2.0.

Most of the asteroids have detail textures (not ice, and not the well-known "bumpy/bone" asteroids, but everything else). However, the detail really shows up well on the tan ones, like those in Dau G11. You can also tell on the dark ones in like Odia M14 and stuff, it's just not as striking.

Looks good up close. Now all we need is FSAA (Mac) to finish the look ;)

I went and checked it out... they look nice, but I'm not seeing any difference up close. Maybe it's not working for me, or I was expecting something different. The texture still seems a little blurry when I get up real close < 5m. I've got a GeForce 8600GT if that makes any difference and "2.0" is selected for my shader capability.

Does anyone have before/after screen shots?

< 5m will still cause blurryness for the really huge asteroids.

By the way, Dau G-11 wont load, so like dont go there to look, try Dau I-7 instead.

It has been reset and is working again.

Something happened in that sector that caused it to be really lagged in processing incoming data. thereby making it look as though the sector wasn't loading when it is actually just taking a really really long time.
