Battle Star Galactica event
Hey BSG fans, I've been dreaming about a BSG event with the new turreted Moths. It could work like this:
The goal is to flee in the Galactica (a moth) from Bractus M14 (Caprica) to Sol II (Earth).
Two groups of players would be formed, Cylons and Colonials. Colonials fly Hogs (vipers), Raptors, and a moth (the Galactica). They can repair at any station but not respawn. They may employ any strategy to flee from the Cylon tyranny.
Cylons fly Centurions (Cylon raiders), Rags (bombers) and Moths (Base Stars). There is also a moth XC representing the resurrection ship. If the resurrection ship is present in the system, then they can respawn from caprica (bractus m14). If it is destroyed, then they die! In any case, they do not repair.
Victory Conditions:
Colonial Win => Galactica arrives at Earth
Cylon Win => Galactica is destroyed
Who is interested?

I'd say vults fit better as raiders, being winged and all :]
As a very big BSG fan, this made me cringe. :(
aren't we playing vendetta online? i mean if i wanted to play bsg which btw is a shitty soap opera in space i would go play BTRL but i guess it kinda fits with all the drama on 100 VO must have the same writers
Um, okay.
Doesn't have to be a BSG event in order to be fun, and...
No way that Moth survives. Either one. All it would take is a single ship to break through the line and destroy it.

oh also idk this just proves whats wrong with that game that we need someone to actually host an event with a moth convoy flying through greyspace while people attack it. insted of this just normally happening
Errrrm, hmmmmm, no.
I'm with LeberMeat on this one. It will end faster than the "Rescue Toine Velaio" event when the moth gets swarmed out of space.
I agree with Moldy...
well give it a try, leber is right all it needs is for someone to break through the lines, but if someone does then they've lost the point is for them not to, that sounds like the general idea of the event
The point is that, in VO, there are no "lines."
I imagine the Maginot line to be in Deneb.
Different definition of line, Tosh; and I don't see any way to pull an end-run around Deneb.
All it would take is a single ship to break through the line and destroy it.
Depends on how you plan your jumps (which is allso a bit BSG'esque)
Did it a lot when I was a Viper, with big competition (Shape, Gavan, Martin,.... you know). Organization, planning and preemptive strikes are key, this could be fun.

True, did this as well when I was in [ITAN] vs. the best [BLAK] had to offer. Had all the [ITAN] folks engage the [BLAK] folks and keep them busy as I tiptoed thru sector after sector.
And I would have made it from Jallik to Odia, too, if Borb's last flare hadn't ended me 2 seconds before I docked in M-14. T'was a fun event.
But that was when Moths first came out and had infiniboost at 200 m/s and like 30,000 armor. And before the 1000m rule when you would know which sector your prey warped to. And before the warp vulnerability.
Hell, I can remember when we had entire CAPSHIPS being taken out on the run from Jallik to Sedina. (Before they had shields...) A few players located you and it was over. Swarms away and BOOM.
Now, if this event was to protect a fast COURIER ship, like a Greyhound, well, then that might be challenging. But a Behemoth? No chance in hell.

In addition to [SCAR] taking out the ship on its way down, I remember soloing the IDV Solra's turrets on more than one occasion, leaving her totally useless for the ensuing capship battles in B8. Good times!
Though if I recall correctly, my actions led to some hasty faction standing reworking--at the time, destroying a turret on an Itani HAC in Itani space had zero effect on one's standing.
