Always thought that'd be a great model for the Greyhound.

Ooh, shiny! You're definitely on to something there A-Dawg!
Um, yes. But all the usual time-required caveats to cleaning up art assets for use, still apply.
This might sound like a repeat, but it seems like maybe we have a golden opportunity for community involvement. You have modeled, textured ships that just need cleanup and some polish work (collision meshes, elimination of dangling vertices, etc.). The community is always bugging you to let them work on ships. Could these things perhaps come together?
If they just needed collision meshes and dangling vertices, they would be in the game already. They need someone of game-content-creation caliber to work on them and bring them (material/shader/model/etc) up to spec. Luis had issues with shaders and a lot of the work is unfinished.
Basically, if people can't already make content from scratch, at this level of quality, then this project is probably not suited to them. Strictly speaking, better than the level of content Luis was producing, since, as I said, he had issues with multi-shader materials and everything we're currently using from him actually has a lot of me in it (I made most of the specularity maps, changed a lot of his other maps, tweaked most of his lighting normals.. blah blah blah).
I appreciate the desire to have cool new content in the game, but none of this is any different than the previous times we've discussed it.

Ah. *shrug*.
I think we should make this a sticky thread somewhere. Not that it would really help, but it might keep this topic from reemerging, again and again and again....
And too bad making games isn't easy. Thats why we keep ya'll around inc. <_<

I have to say I don't necessarily like the vulture design. I think that the current vulture looks a bit too pristine and same thing goes for ships like the ragnarok. Don't slap a raptor texture on it, but rather it would be cool if it had a bit more dents and scrapes and less perfect paint. All paint on ships should have the appearance of crumbling off/fading (a lot like the EC and revenant class ships, even the moth has some gritty parts to it).
While I think that the models should be in the game, I know how hard it is to do everything. Nobody, however, would stop you from working on these after the next major plan, for example: What happened to Deneb right now.
I know, let's make Inc solely responsible for new ship artwork content, and promote SolraBizna to CEO.
Problem solved.
Oh, wait...
