Trying to hunt down lag source
Hi, new player, first day, yada yada. I'm trying to hunt down the source of tremoundous lag that I'm getting in the game. I'm unsure if it's my computer, or Vendetta, or the servers, or what not.
My lag goes like this: I'm flying along and I turned 30 degrees left. It goes that direction, then about a second later it puts me back before my turn and does the turn all over. Fly for about 5-10 seconds, then it occurs again. I've had a few times when I come in and it's smooth sailing, then occurs again and keeps going. Has happened when i logged out and such.
I've altered my video settings to see if ti's that, and it still occurs with low level graphics. This does make combat pretty much impossible:(
First off..anyone know the names/ips of the servers so I can check traceroutes for the lag times?
Second...any suggestions?:(
THanks

While in game do a /ping

Thats the game server.

Thank ye muchly (looks like someone's router at voyager.net dislikes me today..)
you do know that 20 is bad and 1 is good.
Yeah, if you're actually being involuntarily shot around space, it's due to resynchronizations. If you have really erratic latency or high packetloss it will confuse the timer phase-locked-loop very much, and then this happens.
Yeah, the pings are rather 'average' for my system in other games. Traceroute dies after a router/switch/server/whatever just one hop in front of the game server...

14 should be the game server.
Ingame my pings avg 500-1000
EDIT:
This = weird. I rebooted my machine into Linux (originally playing in Windows, dual boot, same box), run Vendetta under linux..and viola. I'm out and playing without any major lag...

Zonealarm? If you have it, try disabling it.
