*** Vendetta 1.8.67
- Testing LuaJIT in Border Skirmish.
- Subdivided server cluster distribution based on expected sector
CPU usage.
- Border Skirmish, Hive Skirmish, and Escort missions are now
available to groups.
- Groups persist after completion of Border Skirmish, Hive Skirmish,
and Escort missions.

Yay updates!

The persistent group think calls for a little more awareness on my part, because you do not automatically leave it upon mission completion. I guess I'll just bind the /group leave command to an inconspicuous key combination.

ooo, group escorts, I gotta try this out!
Apr 11, 2009 Spedy link
Uh, escorts were always group-operable, Sraer. Multiple people can take the mission before the first person launches.

In any case, yay for progress!

o, I didn't know that...
Apr 11, 2009 Shadoen link
If group escorts were already available, how is it an update?
Apr 11, 2009 CrazySpence link
probably because now you can be in a group and go take the mission instead of all going into the station individually and taking the mission

So if you hang out in groups it is more convenient.

And also it's more apparent that they're group missions, since they show up in the mission list when you're grouped now, instead of (usually) just the advanced combat practice.

I know it sounds like a small update, but it was actually a big pain; too big to go into. Thankfully, the knowledge I gained and some of the resulting code is useful for other things; for instance I could make an NPC give you a mission now in response to some dialog/other-conditions.

More yay!

uber-yay!

and if I'm reading this correctly... this means I will no longer have to leave a group in order to take an escort mission (though the proceeds will be evenly distributed I assume)!
Apr 12, 2009 Death Fluffy link
It does, however, only one member of the group can take the mission and I'm assuming any mission at all.

Now all we need is a group Mission Editor for the PCC and we can take over the world! Muahahahahahaaa!

Great update!

Are there additional bonuses for doing these missions as a group? Similar to doing BP as a group.

It was also a requested feature that groups persist after missions end (like BS and whatnot), so that the voice-chatting people can continue to talk in the aftermath, before choosing to leave. So that was part of why we added this.
Apr 12, 2009 toshiro link
There are additional boni (I think), but I haven't been testing extensively. I noticed (or thought I'd noticed) that I earned more reward money in the end (final payout) if there were more than just one person in the group, which might mean that it showed total payout, distributed evenly over PC group members, or that we all just got more money. I should have paid closer attention.

"Bonuses" is correct.
Apr 12, 2009 toshiro link
But I like quaint plural forms! The 'I think' referred to whether there were or not not spelling >_> I'll make it oblique though, to assuage any ruffled feathers.

Escort bonuses are divided amongst the escorts, but that includes the NPCs, and one less escort NPC is spawned for every player taking the mission, so you'll normally each get the same reward you would solo. The exception is if there were more players than the total number of escorts the mission intended; then each player's cut would be smaller. Also, you only get a part of your cut if you weren't with the convoy the whole way (that money isn't redistributed).

Well, I'm impressed. TGFT and ONE grouped to hit the serco hive and it was really good co-operative fun . Someone takes a mission , vector is automatically added to nav map , VC works well, we sweep through the missions. This is actually a far more significant update than it appears on first reading : with more folk in space the options for group activities are extended considerably.

Well done momerath .

damnit... I was bored all day long.
