Muting does NOT stop spam
While a guide was on, i requested to be muted. Then i set up a spam string and tested it. The result: Lag.
Sadly, the guide made hte mistake of unmuting me in the middle of the string. Thus chat was flooded. Thank you, however for remuting me.
My suggestion: Make the muting server side. Disable the consol and all forms of chat. this means that not even commands would be enterable in the consol. HAHA. your falt for getting yourself muted.
Now please unmute me. =D

I have. There was no lag for me.
well.. i'm still muted, but i could always test it again if a guide was around to unmute me and so i could ask for results
Oops. The Guide commands don't echo. No telling what I did to you instead ;)
If muted players were trying to make a nuisance of themselves by creating lag, I would have to take more drastic measures. You make a good point, however.

well, would you be able to tell if it was the players making the lag? i really think this should be tested
Muting stops the message from bouncing from the server back to everyone else. It will still lag yourself however. But since a person would normally be muted due to malicious deeds, if they lag themselves it doesn't really matter.
Also, unmuting only works if the player is currently online.

Whoops, thought that was fixed. I did unmute him when I saw him though.
