Breazle: try reducing your texture resolution. Or reducing "Visual Quality" settings by one level.

thanks inc, i've played with alot of different setting and got my fps to 250 in there but as soon as i shoot at someone or they shoot at me it goes weird, really not sure whats cauing it, ping stays steady and so does fps but it gets rather laggy and i only see a few shots fired.

Well, I would try reducing the "Visual Quality", like I said. It's not just about static FPS, it's about texture thrashing when you expose a new asteroid type, or 10 other things I.. don't want to write out and fully explain.

Try just using the 64MB "Visual Quality" settings. Make sure you run the game full-screen. Etc.

lowering visual quality doesnt help infact it makes it worse, and that is full screen.

I tried a few fights in M7, seemed ok for me. I intend to hold the midweek nation war in there , should be an interesting test of it .

Back in time (2004-2005) we used Latos M7 for fps testing.
Only one who could actually fight there without serious fps issues was Kixkizzle.

I would suggest that the two Nation War sectors (Latos D-2 and Sedina D-2, if I remember right) be added to the set of sectors that have had FF enabled.

Thumbs up for jump sounds. They are a bit faint though - almost inaudible unless you are right on top of the jump point (which is rarely the case).

Border Skirmish: I like the new HAC positions. Hard to evaluate other changes at the moment though as Teradons are spawning inside HACs. To wit:

Daare: if they are too soft you should still be able to use the JumpSFX plugin that I wrote; it uses the same sounds but plays them at a specific volume regardless of how far away they are.

Hi, it's in our best interest to try and figure out why things are running slowly for Breazle, on a modern dual-core machine. I'm going to be using those bumpy asteroids a lot more, and far more densely, in the universe. Bojan has a really slow computer, there's nothing to be done for that, but for most people on modern system it should run relatively well.

Breazle: what kind of integrated video do you have? Latest drivers?

What are your "Scene" and "Distance" level of detail set to, in Options->Graphics?

[EDIT]: Also try the 32MB and 16MB visual quality settings, and fly around with each. If one of them becomes better, then we can probably figure out what setting is troublesome.

Heh. I'm amazed VO runs at all on my machine, given how my hardware is well below the stated minimum requirements. For the record, my junk-pile has a 500mhz processor and 16mb of integrated VRAM. Hive skirmishes are pretty much unplayable for me, but everything else runs just fine. I think that says something rather favorable about the game's scalability.

posted all of my details on your new post. Drivers are the latest ones.

Is there an ETA on the PayPal update? I have to resubscribe soon and would prefer not paying the third party if I dont have to.

jackscream: no, that project is on hold due to the debugging thing. I would say, don't wait for it.

went to my first bs since the last update. Very nice, its much better, one thing i did pick up on was the first trident from each team flew to the opposing group and died instanty due to the force of the group. Also i had an idea, when the HAC looses shields and the message appears saying everyone protect that vessel, could it make alot of the npc's guard it to?

AI seems alot brighter, good work.
