*** Vendetta 1.8.59
- Eight new trade routes to and from grayspace: Corvus Holodisks and Textiles (Sol/Itan), Manufacturing Tools, Metana Sweets, Oxygen Recycling Systems, Rare Books, Serco Cybernetic Implants, Textured Vegetable Protein.
- Extra wormhole turrets removed from Verasi O-7.
- Border Skirmish positional and targeting enhancements for Teradon.
- Mac version's gamma setting now uses current gamma ramp as initial values instead of a linear gamma ramp.
- Mac version should no longer accept mouse or keyboard input if it is not the active application.

Some of the new routes can generate.. substantial profits. They should also bounce back quickly. Feedback welcome.

Um... It occurs to me that a route from Sol II to Itan would not make much sense in the near future due to faction standing changes. You may want to change that

(Unless that (Sol/Itan) bit means something else completely....)

ingoguy15: As far as I know a UIT should still be able to use that route.

I like the fact that the Grey routes have been put in reverse too. Grey is dangerous both ways :)

They are from grayspace to Sol and Itan, respectively. If you read the game-news it'll be clearer (PDA->Comm->News). I mean.. they're Corvus Textiles and Holodisks, where would you expect them to be purchasable? Probably not Sol II and Itan.

Ino, did you really think the devs were going to have a trading route directly from the capitol of one warring nation to another??
Feb 21, 2009 Sraer link
Heh, talk about rp.
Feb 21, 2009 theratt10 link
I, personally, think that one or two trade routes between the two warring factions could be explained. You know, trying to figure out what each other's military is developing, or just black market trade.
Feb 21, 2009 A-Dawg link
Black market trade yes. It would essentially only be open for UIT, and even then with the new faction changes coming, open for how long (and how easy) is yet to be seen. That's if there was a lucrative trade route between both nation's capitals.

A UIT in a moth might have an interesting time explaining to the nationalists of either party what its doing in Deneb... good RP. Of course, Deneb would have to become unmonitored for good RP to work out without standing being an issue.
Feb 22, 2009 JestatisBess link
Aticephyr: Only if GR is un monitored too. The Itani have a weak border already, no need to help it along.

I'm assuming that a good UIT pilot could be able to work his/her way up to at least low admired with both nations, but nothing higher. After all you aren't going to just abandon a store if it starts carrying another brand that you don't like.

Store/brand? No.
Someone who's apparently working with/for your enemy during a war? Hmm...

Teradon behavior:

Spawn points for Teradons are much improved, especially the Itani Teradon which no longer jumps in right on top of the Serco HAC.

Have only done a few BS but the new Teradon behavior looks like they make a beeline for the opposing side's HAC, often leaving their own side undefended. They will also switch target but I'm unsure under what criteria (damage? distance?). This makes the battles center around the Teradons even more so than before with the advantage going to whichever side can destroy the opposing side's Teradon first - all the other ships are incidental to the battle except as fodder for the casualty count.

Battles are much shorter now with the HAC of one side or the other being destroyed or weakened by the third wave of reinforcements.

Tridents either stay near their side's HAC or Kamikaze to no effect instead of attacking together.

I do like the way the Connies now actively interpose themselves between attacking Teradons and their HAC; I've seen some nice collisions though, some hard enough to make the HAC itself move. Cap ships seem to try to maintain about a 500m distance from each other. That seems a little close considering their size and range of their weapons.

I did some pirate patrols around the Sedina wh and saw only one moth pilot in three hours. I think that the value of the grey trade goods needs to be increased further.

Or maybe I need to start tanking everything else. I really need more data and tools. Working on it.

What type of data?

Stuff from our database.

I hope this is where cudos belong for update improvements.

As an Apple computer user I want to say thank you to the developers for this update. What was before a really fun game, and nice to look at, too, is now a really fun game, and a thing of beauty.

Since Sunday night I have been telling myself to leave a note, but have been too inthralled with the beauty of the VO universe as it is now displayed on my MacBookPro. I read the brief description in the update log about what changes were made. But I didn't know what "gamma settings" meant, so didn't know what to expect. I was fairly blown away. I thought I had been unknowingly visited by VO aliens and given an eye transplant. Everything was so bright and beautiful. The stars seemed to twinkle. I have thought for a while that the stations in Azek are among the most beautiful in VO, but with the update, I am more sure of it.

Thank you, again.
