Congratulations CrazySpence, I know you've been working on those missions a long time.

it's nice to play them without debug messages all over the place but now I have to work on their sequels!

Yes, congrats Spence. I meant to post something about that, but was too tired when it came to release time, and forgot.

Gah. Wish I could play the missions. :(

All Hail King CrazySpence and his Warthog of DOOM!

- Five new missions, appearing in Itani territory.

Just goes to show how the game continues to be biased against the Serco players...
Jan 26, 2009 mr_spuck link
Make some serco missions then!
Jan 26, 2009 JestatisBess link
vardonx: I think those were PCC missions. Make you own missions for the serco scum :)

vard is right. if pcc missions are being approved that are NOT available for ALL nations then something endemic is WRONG. if they are made by the devs then it's even WORSE.

VO will only be a commercial success when it's PERCEIVED as equinaminous.

Oh, come on. Really? Speaking as someone who does what he can for the Serco race, that is just silly. Spence wrote a nice set of missions that happen to be set in Itani space, for Itani (because Spence is Itani!). Incarnate and others liked the missions, and asked Spence to polish them up for production. He did so, and here they are. You want good new missions for Serco? Make some yourself! Or maybe ask Spence or someone else if they could make some for you! But don't try to say that the system is wrong because some new Itani-only missions came out. If it is that important to you then do it yourself. Don't stifle creativity and content, which is what this game needs.
(with the understanding that trolley was probably being sarcastic, and with apologies for the somewhat over-the-top rant)

I'd hardly call my mission creation biased, I've been blue or "Itani" as you new wave people would call it for 6 years 14 days :P

However I have recently created a Serco alt for just this specific purpose
Jan 27, 2009 incarnate link
I welcome missions of all types: nation, corporation, faction-specific, I don't care. I do prefer globally available missions as we have a shortage and it lets the most people enjoy them.. but we also have a six-character-slot "alt" system that lets people maintain characters of different nations. Some missions definitely lend themselves to only specific nations, locales, etc, as the storyline exposition is difficult to structure generically. There's nothing wrong with that.

The PCC is open to any subscriber who wants to contribute and is willing to write the essay and agree to the requirements.

I've told the PCC that I prefer generically-available, lower-level missions simply because I consider lower-level (newbie) content a priority, to maximize the number of missions offered. Not because I think we should only release "equally" to all nations. If someone creates nation-specific content, why wouldn't I release it? It's content.. having some is better than having less.

I have always found these "Serco Bias" claims to be irritating, and they haven't gotten any better with age.

God damn the new sercos are stupid.
I should start playing blue characters.

Being new myself, as well as Serco, I'm a bit concerned. Don't get me wrong, I think the PCC is great and a refreshing break from other MMOs based around what the devs thought was good content. (usually it wasn't)

The disturbing thing for me is what happens to the Serco? We are already on the low side every day. I checked activity the other day, 60 players on, something like 30 Itani, 25 UIT and 5 Serco. (Not exact but a good estimation) BS is mainly all bots and maybe part of this is from there not being enough active Serco to make it interesting enough to bring the Itani out to play. My experience is a bit shy I admit, but I did two BS back to back and it was me and my bots against the Itani bots. Last night, It was one Serco against the bots.

I chose Serco after reading the backstory and I liked their style. Then I get in game and find out there are little to no Serco and then the first new content I see is all Itani? I don't care to reroll (yet) since I have a little time in my toon. (not as much as most of you, but it is time spent) Also, rerolling doesn't help the Serco numbers any either.

Not trying to stifle creativity, but also make the game more interesting from the Serco perspective as well. We need more Serco to go out and beatup the peace loving Itani right?

I'd love to help write new content, but unfortunatly my real profession takes up way to much of my time as it is. Just don't forget us poor Serco!!!
Jan 27, 2009 yodaofborg link
Only poor Serco is a dead Serco.

STFU already, Serco got something the Itani don't, It's called pride, don't bring all us red team players down with you. I cannot do the missions on the real server either, and my only complaint is that I do not have enough time to put into PCC myself right now.
Jan 27, 2009 incarnate link
Spence's mission tree was something like 2 years in the making. When it finally reached fruition, am I supposed to delay for a long period of time until someone else has made a comperable Serco tree? Then what if one or both of them are truly nation-specific, wait for a UIT tree as well?

I am sorry for any new people, that the first new content you see is exclusive of your developed character, but this is simply a result of chance and circumstance. There is no inherent bias on the choice of releases or what is requested of the PCC. I attempt to make content drops as soon as I can, whenever I can. And if some of that content is more exclusive than others.. I honestly don't care, because it isn't biased one way or the other, it's just my trying to make the game better with whatever is available. More content is better for the game as a whole. Holding up content for six months or more, so that The Whole Class Can Have A Piece of Gum is.. really dumb.

So, please appreciate my position, if possible. And the Serco have most definitely not been forgotten. This will hopefully become more apparently after I finish this never-ending faction redux. Which I should really be working on, instead of posting here.
Jan 27, 2009 bull350 link
Inc. Seems like you took me wrong. No, I don't think you should hold up release of ANY content, whatever nation it pertains to. I don't see this as a bias at all, I was simply espressing my opinion from a new player perspective.

@Yoda, lay off the caffine man. I wasn't trying to bring anyone down. Why is a constructive opinion offensive to you?
Jan 27, 2009 Pointsman link
I'm sorry that the release of new content disturbs you. But do you really think that comments like "make the game more interesting from the Serco perspective as well" wouldn't be taken as insultingly insipid?

And no self-respecting Serco would refer to Itani as "peace loving."
Jan 27, 2009 incarnate link
bull350: No worries, I took it in a positive sense, I was elaborating as much for the benefit of the broader (and somewhat more negative) population. Welcome to the game.

On that note, I'm locking the thread, I think the horse is dead.
