awww they sealed up the bug... oh well I got in far more votes then anyone else will be able to already :D
Jan 10, 2009 yodaofborg link
Yeah, but its still one vote a day per IP, so keep voting everyday till like, its over.

I'm thinking I could still mass spam everything using tor though, would at least be worth me looking into

The grammar makes my eye twitch, but voting takes absolutely nothing.

Vendetta is currently in second place in both categories.
Jan 10, 2009 Hentai_Jeff link
well in all reality in this round of voting we only need to make it into the top 20.
Jan 13, 2009 FatStrat85 link
Although we've fallen a bit behind, we're in the Top 20 for all 3 categories we're a part of, even the graphics category, so we'll make it to the final round. We all should make sure we really vote a lot during the final round, because if we can win in the p2p or company category, that will be a lot of nice free advertising. The final round starts next Thursday, January 22nd.

These kinds of polls are more a measure of player enthusiasm than objective ranking so feel free to vote as often as you can. At least that's how I see them considering the way they are setup.

Something is wrong... VO is beating world of warcraft.

So, even if we DO win, its not like many people have heard of this.

No, I think our users are just more adept at ballot-stuffing. Just at a guess anyway.

Regardless, MMOsite is pretty big (bigger than MMORPG.com by absolute traffic, I think), so exposure is good.
Jan 14, 2009 yodaofborg link
I know I am :)

But yeah, really, these competitions are good exposure, even if VO does not win, while its number one, it at least the P2P section, it might cause a few folk to actually think "oh, whats this?"
Jan 14, 2009 MythOpus link
Yes... they'll think "Oh, whats this? Oh... a game full of macroers who like to destroy voting much like certain companies have destroyed the election process in the U.S. How quaint!"

:P

Personally, I normally worry about voting for things like this. In the end, the votes don't really mean anything anyways, due to exploiting or other situations. I think if even half of the communities for some of those games knew/cared about sites like MMOSite or MMORPG.com, we might not be there. Not that we are inferior in any way - just that most of those games have a hell of a lot more players.

much like certain companies have destroyed the election process in the U.S.

Please, please, please tell me that no human being capable of operating (more or less) a keyboard actually believes that.
Jan 14, 2009 MythOpus link
If by believing it you mean believing that building a system to tally how many votes a number of people have received should be absolutely simple and straightforward and should thus be 99% free of any bugs and that certain companies have either 'accidently' or 'purposefully' failed to implement a process of QA that would eliminate any bugs that would exist and thus have reported innacurate polling results then yes I believe that.

But then again, I live in Canada. Paper + Pencil = Yay.

It's my assertion that "ballot stuffing" is exactly what these kinds of polls are meant to measure. Why else would they allow you to vote more than once? (I mean besides the obvious goal of drawing more people to their website.)

P.S. Personally, I'm in favor of paper ballots.

bump
Jan 20, 2009 Lacraia link
If they didn't want people to vote several times they would force people to register their email. Sure, it's not that hard to register a new random webmail account, but it would make it a lot more time consuming.
Jan 20, 2009 JestatisBess link
Lacraia: well now you are only able to vote once per day. I'm assuming its blocked by IP addresses. I'll try voting later when i take my laptop to school and see if it works.
Jan 20, 2009 Lacraia link
I don't think anyone will take this voting serious. Darkfall Online is on the top 20 list of Best New Game 2008. We're lucky if they release it on February 25 as they've said.
Jan 20, 2009 FatStrat85 link
It doesn't matter if anyone takes it seriously. It's free advertising for the devs. A lot of people will see the name of the game near the top of the list and will be curious. If we win in any category, it will be even better advertising.
