Worlds.com sures over "scaleable MMO" patent
That's ironic because so many of the terms in that patent have had their meanings changed due to realizations of the concepts described in that patent. Do the ships in VO count as avatars? Before I knew what MMORPG stood for, I wouldn't have thought so.

It depends.

To me it looks like yet another poorly-issued patent that will get tested in court and probably crushed under the sheer weight of prior art (Meridian 59 being an obvious example, but there are many others, and earlier). But, like Lecter says, it depends.
I'm not terribly concerned anyhow, this sort of lawsuit is usually to generate income for some group of attorneys who go around collecting "intellectual property" and suing other people over whatever they can find; the whole "worlds.com" thing is probably little more than a front. We have squat for assets to go after, soo.. we're not much of a target. Interesting that they chose NCsoft rather than Blizzard, though, perhaps better to try and prove the concept on the smaller giant before taking on the really big one.

This is ridiculous. That's like Karl Benz suing Daimler or Ford for also making cars. Stupid frivolous lawsuits.
Like incarnate said, I'm surprised they didn't go for Blizzard.
They wont go after Blizzard first. Blizzard = Vivendi.
So much money there a lawsuit against them would be harsh.
What always bugs me about these dumb lawsuits is they never do go after the biggest. its always the middle guys simply because they may not be able to do what Blizzard could do.
Kinda stinks on a personal level for me. I liked CoH, stinks to see them get caught up in this.

I agree with Inc. If they win then maybe they will sue Blizzard. But i doubt they will win.
i came up with the idea of a house, therefore no one in the world can build a house or design a house unless you pay me first. in other words GIVE ME ALL OF YOUR MONEY. money hungry bastards.
In my best Larry-da-cable-guy voice:
Once they start tax'n this intellectual real estate, things are gonna change.
