Give us a match speed button... Please...
Yes.
Amen, roguelazer.
Amen, roguelazer.
ooo a1k0n said we're going to get control of turbo. /me eagerly awaits the non-all or nothing turbo.
a1k0n would the "main engine throttle" effect max speed or just accel?
roguelazer: what a1k0n said they might do is much better than an auto match speed, since you'll atcually want to be going slightly faster.

Yeah, but I just want match speed for dogfights and junk.
Eldrad, check out the later members of the X-Wing series...they had match speed as an option (especially TIE Fighter).
Yeah, we need match speed.
Cmdr Freeman. Exactly! And since you're not going the exact same path as your target (because you want to aim at them and such) you tend to fall behind. X-Wing series is exactly where I'm getting my dislike for match speed.
Hmm, that match-speed shouldn't be too hard to add. It would basically set your desired speed to their speed at the moment you pressed the button. If they slow down, you wouldn't.
Also, this wouldn't work very well or at all if you're in physicis mode due to physics mode not controlling that sort of thing.

raybondo... would it work while turboing? That's really the only time I've felt that sort of thing would be useful...
Put a "relative-speed" speedometer in first. Once we can manually try to match speed, we'll know whether using a key for match speed is worth it or not.
I doubt match speed is going to work as well in Vendetta as it did in X-Wing.
How many of you X-Wing pilots feel like you were 'match speed tapping' in X-Wing?
For match speed to be useful at all, it would have to be 'set my speed equal to the scalar of the velocity vector of the target with respect to me' because setting your speed to '-60 m/s' isn't probably what you mean to do if your target is facing you, and even that isn't particularly useful as a crutch the way it often was in X-Wing, Tie Fighter, XvT, etc. They have totally different flight models from Vendetta.
