There will probably be a game outage today, sometime between 2pm and 5pm CST. We'll be bringing two more cluster servers online, and re-organizing some other aspects of the game server for better expandability.

With some luck, the downtime will be quite brief. FYI.

We should be good to go now, I think (at least until a release). We're running with one additional single-core machine in the cluster, doing a bit more work on another one and probably bringing it online during a release later tonight.

Also swapped out our oldest server (dual Athlon MP 2400+) which used to run the entire game back in 2002 :). It was more recently serving our database until we ran into some stability issues (it's certainly had a long and full life) and has now been replaced with a new Core 2 Quad. So, a bit more horsepower there as well.

All in all (knock on wood), it was a relatively stress-free and pleasant maintenance.

So, uhm.. you, ah, wouldn't want to donate to the EZR-needs-a-newer-athlon fund? I'll even send a receipt, so you can claim a tax break for it..

mmm, dual athlon 2400.. much better than my single athlon 2000..

Sorry, no ;). I'm going to be trying to make it a bit more stable, and then potentially use it on the test server as a cluster-backend.
