Clash of the Capital Ships in Sedina
I thought I would post a few shots of the Capital battle last night. Maybe somebody could tell me how to display the images here. I've just included some links.

Whoa, those shield effects look pretty strange on your machine. What kind of videocard do you have?
Arr! He must be using an ATI card with shaders enabled and possibly running linux. I'm getting the same thing.

What should they look like? I have an Nvidia 6800GT/Linux, and I'm sure the shields look much like that. It's been a while since I played however, so if it's just a subtle difference then my memory may be playing tricks.
They're a translucent blue normally.
Heh, I remember when shields first came out they looked so blue that the Nemesis looked like it'd defected and gotten a new paint job.
You're right, I have an ATI running on Linux. Is having shaders on a bad thing?
Ok, I read your last posting and I even found a webpage with instructions on how to load ATI 8.40. I'm running on 8.53 currently. Is downgrading my ATI driver worth doing?

The shields here:

..show each polygon of the "shield" effect shaded differently. That's.. not right. It should just be a continuous translucent tone. I've never seen that before, but I don't have any ATI cards on Linux. From our own screenshots, how it's supposed to look:

(Note there are no polygonal "breaks" in the shield, it just continuously covers the ship).
We don't see that issue with Nvidia/ATI on Windows or Mac though.
Those of you who do see the shield effect like that, please post your specific card type and driver usage (I get the 8.53 thing for Clatch, but what kind of hardware?). [EDIT]: Posting the information to Spuck's "Bugs" thread listed above would probably be best.

Mine are blue, though I couldn't be sure of the difference until I had two screenshots side by side.
They're supposed to be blue. They aren't supposed to have big white triangular chunks showing up.
that reminds me of the game "Stunts"
Enabling shaders is only bad if you have a problem with freaky shields. :P
Versions later than 8.40 are quite a bit faster in some cases and I'm not sure if it will still work on modern distros.

Haha! With a mid-range MacBook with it's supposedly crappy integrated video, the shields look just as they should! Score one for Apple.
