Ship/Weapons Setup/Loadout Help
I'm not sure if a thread like this exists. If so, please point me to it. I looked for one, but couldn't find it. Basically, I know that ship/weapons setup is a personal preference, but I also know that a ship CAN suck, so I was wondering if this could be a forum for advice on ship and weapons pairing/loadout. I'll start it off, that IS why I'm here.
How's my setup? What are the upsides/downsides? How can I improve it?
Ship: Corvus Vulturius
Power Cell: Heavy Power Cell
Weapon 1: Gauss Cannon MkII
Weapon 2: Gauss Cannon MkII
[Edit] Oh, and I'm 7/6/3/7/4, in case that's useful information [Edit]
Thanks,
Icabar Crane

With your setup, you will have a low rate of fire. You will also have trouble hitting enemies who throw a roll into their evasion techniques.
That said, neither of the two are necessarily a downside. If you are the sort of player to make shots count, gauss will serve you very well.
One thing you can't entirely get around with your choices here is the mass of your ship- you will be a little sluggish compared to other corvus vult pilots, because you're wearing really big guns. Not everyone suffers under heavy weight, but they are nonetheless less agile by the numbers.
All these considerations are up to personal preference. Your loadout is just as capable of winning a fight as mine, in this case.

You can deliver a lot of damage fast against vulnerable targets; if you attack just about any heavy ship from behind, you'll be able to quickly eat up their armor.
But just like Aramarth said, you'll have to aim more to hit your targets; Your shots move slower then Neuts, so it'll take a little more patience before you can start doing well against other vult pilots.

Of course, Gauss have better autoaim than neutrons. :P
And ya' know, auto aim is really really good when it comes to hitting, say, a corvus vulture with a good pilot :P
Cool, thanks all. Are there any fast/light/good light weapons that become available after the 10 hive queen kills? I know the megaposi becomes available but since I'm learning to work with a corvus vult, that doesn't help me. Is there a good light weapon I should work towards?
Other than gauss, your options on a light are Neutrons and Positrons. There are different versions of each, but posis generally fire slower doing more damage, and neuts are faster with a tad less. The most common weapon mounted on a light port is probably some form of neutron.
Down the road when your levels climb, you will also get to buy iceflare, starflare, or sunflare rockets.

check the raven ion blaster, it just might be the light weapon of your fantasies
where can I find the raven ion blaster?
Ineubis stations. You'll need 4/8/-/-/- levels to buy it. It is basically a light neutron blaster.
hmm.... I tend to prefer heavier slower energy weapons, cause I time my firing carefully and don't fire for too long. Is the Raven Ion Blaster low damage high speed?
