I have just started to play Vendetta and have high hopes for some good fun in the future. The game seems good, but the community appeals even more to me. I was a bit surprised when I clicked the "Active player" option and discover there are only 9 players online. But I do not consider that a bad thing, quite the opposite.
My first online game was "Age of Sails II", which I played for 6 years. It was also one of those games with a very limited player base. I don't think there where more than 60-70 active players at any time. But we all became good friends and had a blast together. Even though we shot each other to pieces ever night, it was always in a friendly manner. No griefing of any kind, we always tried to make the battles as even as possible, simply because no one found any honor in sinking a small sloop with a huge ship of the line.
From watching the chat while playing my tutorials, I think Vendetta has a bit of the same atmosphere. I am really looking forward to play with you all.

So, what is PvP about in Vendetta?
is it only skirmishing or is there a deeper thought to pvP, like conquering each other territory?
--
BTW, who the h... took my name?
When registering to Vendetta I was told "Claren" was already taken. So I had to turn it backwards and is Neralc in this game. :-)

Hello.
Yes, there is a good atmosphere here. There is a realtively massive (about 30 people) Nation War in Sedina every Sunday. UIT vs. Serco. vs. Itani. vs people who are KOS (Kill on sight) with their own nation.
Other than that, there is a friendly atmosphere here, yes. Pirates do roam, but they are few and far between, still, never give your location on 100.
I'm not playing, for now, but welcome!

Welcome to VO Neralc.
Aye, VO is a close knit community here and most of the time, you will find roughly 60 to 70 players on line during peak times. Usually the early morning hours in the US are the slowest due to the player population base, but there are a good number of folks from around the world.
PvP is probably the thing that sets VO apart from some of the other space mmmo's out there. Right now PvP doesn't affect territory, but there has been discussion about that in the suggestions section here on the boards:
http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/19773
There are several player sponsered PvP events like the Nation Wars twice a week and bus wars. There are some other PvP events like border patrol and skirmish that are mission based, and of course you could just venture down to grey space to get pirated on.
One thing you will find is that the devs communicate and listen to the player base here in VO more so than in any other game I think I've been involved with from my experience. That is the other gem of VO a great community. Although there is a small group of us, it is a high quality group. You came on at a good time as there are some really awesome changes happening with VO that will improve the game play experience.
Welcome again and look forward to seeing you in the VO verse. Game alt is Almighty Bob btw. ;)

Fursona?
Oh sheesh, enough with the fursona BS, you newb.
Well at least I'm taking a genuine interest in these people, as opposed to all the "OMG lolz, wlecum to da gaem, I r SUPERAWESUMDUDE2, and I spunsr this, that, and wunt mor pepl to kil bots wit me, lol, so plz look me up!1!" newbs that keep spamming these threads.
Not that that's bad or anything, but I want to try and learn something about the new players instead of just trying to convince them of things that might not even be true, as far as I know.

Thanks genka, you're the best.

Welcome to the game, Neralc. If you want, you can email support at guildsoftware dot com about the name thing. If it was taken by an old trial account that's long disused, we'll consider giving it to you.
Aside from that, we are moving towards a dynamic war system that will impact territory, and will involve fleets formed from both PCs and NPCs. So, in that sense, PvP will directly affect territory. For the low-down on where the game is headed in the near term, check out my Newsposts, and my responses to various threads on the Suggestions forum.

Thanks for your answers.
Up til now I have only tried to learn the game, done all the tutorials and red all the manual!! (That don't happend very often) I think I got the hang of it now and have got myself a Hornet fighter, nice ship :-)
So now I feel ready to get blown up by a player.
How do I find groups to join for PvP? Or do you only make pvp groups for the events mentioned above?
Incarnate:
Thank you sir, I appreciate your concern. But I found Claren was only taken as account name, I could make a character named Claren. it doesnt matter much what name my account is using as long as my friends can find me in game. A couple of them is on there way over now from "Sea Lords Virtual Fleets". All good people who value friendship and fun game play and will fit right in to this community.

See that big area in grey, on your map? That's called greyspace. You wanna fight? Go there. Best system is Sedina. sector B-8.
fun times are ahead, I hope you can afford it :)

Aye, been there.
Managed to kill only two NPC's and then I had to withdraw as fast as my afterburner could carry me.

Well, I'll take that back about being ready for PvP.
After taking on some more difficult NPC's I find, 1: I cant hit shit! 2: When attacked I dont even get time to turn my ship around before I am blown away!
No idea how to handle that.

There are different tactics that work with each kind of bot behavior. Tell us what is smacking you around and we'll tell you how to beat it.
Thank you, I will make a new post when I know. I haven't payed much attention to the classes of enemies. I just attack whatever comes close.
But it seems most of the trouble was due to the slow and heavy "Ragnarok", after switching to a more nimble ship I am doing a lot better.
