Yeah I can confirm it... It's still there.
As you can see, I have *two* active missions. Very clever.

Ok, we're trying to have that fixed by Fri.
should be fixed now. The problem seemed to manifest if you use more than one computer or vendetta installation with the same character.
I have told several new players do not to do this mission till they get much better ships and faster speed missions.
I like this mission but it's really hard with the weapons and ships you have when mission becomes available as I found out by working up a new character. Too hard so I even follow my new player advice and don't do till I get neutrons to do.
As Vulture IV are way better than the ships players have at the start this shows an unbalance as well.
I would recommend that you keep the text of current mission except for ship type but change ship to Centurion I and use a new training weapon with stats similar to Plasma II or other beginner weapon.
Then make the current ship and weapon Advanced Combat Training III and mission become available at combat license 3 or 4. Perhaps needed to take the hive skirmish mission.

I'm not really sure that Centurion I's would be a hell of a lot easier than the Training Vultures. But I could probably rig them to be easier.. like give them a lot lower dodge priority.
Any other feedback on this? I'd like to a more smooth ramp-up in difficulty, so as not to flummox or otherwise frustrate newbies who think they just can't fight.

Well, I'd be really disappointed if this mission disappeared entirely. It is fairly decent practice for trying to hit a Vulture without the risk of losing your ship.
Maybe make the current adv training 2 into adv training 3 like Mil said. And it shouldn't be available to anyone without the neutron blaster.
I like the idea of something intermediate between adv 1 and adv 2, because it really is a large gap. Have them fight raptors with training phase blasters for the new adv 2. Easier to hit, and easier to dodge (lower velocity on sparrows). You don't even need to tweak the AI.

I did this mission about 2 days ago after playing VO for only about 2 evenings at all.
My stats where something around 1/2/0/1/0 and I of course also had problems beating those nasty Vultures.
They dodged every single shot from my Plasma Cannon HX and I quickly realized that it's all about weapon velocity to hit them. After attaching a Phase Blaster MKII with 175 m/s but only 380 Dmg per hit, I was able to beat them. But still, especially the part where you fight against the group of 5, it was quite challenging.
I see 3 possible solutions to balance this mission:
1. Change Advanced Combat Training II into Advanced Combat Training III and introduce a new not so challenging Advanced Combat Training II mission.
2. Add a note to the mission briefing screen that it would be advised to equip a weapon with a high velocity attribute.
3. Lower the dodge ability of the Vultures.
My 0.02 credits.

my cents go towards no.2
Add in a "We recommend a weapon with a velocity clocking over xxx"

I recently completed this mission, and I needed help from a mentor who sorted me out with a Gauss cannon.
Personally I think the leap from Advance Combat Training 1 to 2 is just massive, again it's not about getting hit that's the problem, but rather actually hitting them with the ships and perhaps more importantly guns that are available to you at the time.
As it's considered a training mission noobs will want to take it and get it out of the way, especially if they want to specialise in combat and weaponry, so my suggestion would be to add in a a few more missions of a similar vein between mission I and what is currently II.
How about a mission with Dentek Bots, and then a mission with Gaurdians after that, finally Advance Training IV or V would be back to the Vultures.

Ok, I've pulled ACT II offline until I have time to make some intermediate missions (maybe next week). I don't want to frustrate new people by giving them opponents that they're untrained and unequipped to fight.
Incarnate!! No!!! Please put it back up, just with higher level reqs! I was using it! Set it to combat 7, that'll protect the newbs.
