Looks good! Any chance of getting an improved Hornet, or just a version that's good for something besides rails?
Yeah, taking a look at the Hornet is on my to-do list. If people have specific goals, post or revive a thread on Suggestions. I'm always a bit leery of the quad-fire options, so I'm not going to make it into a cent or anything.
I did buff the cargo awhile back:

Aye, sounds good, looking forward to it .
So far I think this is the best news post I have read to date. It is wonderful that the ore will be getting a change and I can only hope we will have new badges for the ores.
I have noticed many trends in the current ore layout which does make it somewhat disappointing because it is predictable in location and numbers.
As for the economy goes it to is greatly encouraging to see things being put into perspective. Under the current structure pyronic ore is the rarest form of ore but not the highest priced ore which it should be due to the low numbers of roids out there. Denic is super plentiful and not what I would classify as a rare ore yet we have a badge for it but not for pyronic ore.
One thing I would really like to see is the dynamic hive expanding to station and wormhole sectors. I have seen the dynamic hive at station sectors recently (bug) and from what was able to see some bugs in the strike force/station guards behavior. Having them actually fight back and calling in help, distress calls would be something that would make game play so much better.

In other words, if you're hated or KoS with a given faction, don't expect a warm welcome at their border, or especially within a nation's Capitol systems. I'm not going to make life impossible for the pirate or soldier visiting enemy space.. just very, umm, exciting. And not for the faint of heart.
Hah! Bring it on!

Yay, newspost!
Definitely looking forward to the changes!
All I can say is hell yeah. That looks awesome, and I can't wait to see the changes you guys bring. Fighting through densely packed roids...it's like you read my mind and decide it's Christmas time.
EVE seems to have met its match, if this comes to pass. Densly packed asteroids AND lower sensors. *Drool*
It makes for a lot more strategy in events
[notsubtlehint] PUT A HUGE AS HELL ASTEROID FIELD INTO BORDER SKIRMIIIIIISH! AND MAKE IT HARD TO SEEEE![/notsubtlehint]
And yes, I am playing EVE. It's different, but not better than VO, just playing to pass the time until stuff like this occurs.

Exciting stuff!
Any chance of getting the way license levels work redone? I'm not a fan of endless botting/trading/mining just to level up; I think it would be more interesting if there were difficult missions or strings of missions in order to get the next mining or heavy weapons license, etc. I mean, I don't get my driver's license after simply riding a bike for 2000 hours, there's a written and practical test involved. It would give this game another layer of depth and set it apart that much more from other games if it worked in a similar manner.
I know that really goes in Suggestions, but it's just a thought.

I've never really kept track of how stats specifically affect ships, but I think "thrust" is the piece in question for the hornet. It just moves a little too slowly for most fighting besides "get in, take your rail shot, and get the hell out. Oh also say good bye to that 50% you just lost!"
Yes, but my dear smittens, you miss the point, increasing the hornets thrust may make it an uber-ship. The hornet should be replaced, its a low poly triangle (120 I think).
Its crap. Maybe give the Craptor 4 S ports and drop it in as its replacement (Like it was intended to be?)

Sweetness!

Regarding the changes to the universe: I think adding finite quantitys of useful ores (thru crafting) is a very good idea. VO needs ways to bring pilots together in conflict. Hanging out in b8 gets really old. Along this line of thinking, an expanded (explorable) universe reduces opportunity for pilots to even run into each other. What fun is a mission to deep space where you will only find bots, and will take a long time in repetative jumps?
Regarding the hornet: I think that the sluggish handling is ok if the cross section were reduced, or make it handle like a 'taur.
Incarnate said that he is leery of making too strong a quad fire ship. Big or interesting changes bring back seasoned players. Lots of vulture drivers may be interested in flying a strong hornet and pay ten buck to do it. If its too big a buff, then change it again later, but the bottom line is that change will bring back VO's best customers - long time subscribers.

Actually, I'm all for being able to explore more. Not everyone is into combat. It would be nice if there was something worth finding when doing exploration. Just for the heck of it, I'm experimenting with dropping cans with goods in an empty system and then going back later to see if it's still there.
Id like to see a larger variety of objects, other than asteroids and ice crystals. I mean stuff like wrecked capital ships or stations, with part missings and hollow so players could fly through it.
Awesome post, inc.
Regarding the Hornet: As a seasoned player, I would be pissed if a recklessly unbalanced ship were to appear at this late date. it might bring players back for a moment, but then they would either be equally pissed, or get busy popping noobs with the ubership until it was changed - at which point they'd be pissed. Summary: Inc knows what he's doing.
