Because, as a whole, I feel my points do get across in a constructive manner. One insult does not invalidate two paragraphs of text.
A player named a character "HomestarisGay" and kept spaming the chat. This kind of behavior is ridicualous. I asked him several times to stop but he wouldnt. Players need to understand that being frusterated at the game does not allow them to say anything they want in chat, even at me. I would like this matter looked into.
Guess we need a profanity checker for names now as well.

... complains the guy trying to destroy the chat by using spy characters and relaying team chat. It's almost funny - a griefer being griefed :-]
Anyway, the solution against spammers: /ignore
Ah, another suggestion against the spy problem: implement more IRC commands, like /join. This would make private channels possible, whenever a spy character is online, the remaining characters could negotiate (by using private messages) a secret channel.

ahem, personal attack... I didnt name anyone directly, well not his real guy anyways...follow the rules, guys.
It doesnt matter if I'm well liked, I got the same rights to guide protection as anyone else. Guides should be objective, not running popularity contests.
I attack everything I can. I dont spam insults at people, or make comments about sexuality or race.

It gets around ignore, its on the player lists and on the web page. I dont think your post was in the spirit meant for the board. Was it your character?

You guys are WAY to hard on Homestar. What happened to him is wrong and you're writing it off because he, like many people from all three teams, spies sometimes. You guys are heartless and not at all in the spirit of things. To kill Homestar, or grief him, is one thing. But to use sexual insults against him in a non-ignorable form, that's just wrong. How, you ask, is it non-ignorable? He could cap the flag, post here, be in sector list display or be shown on the website's various player functions. This person should be punished and a name filter included. But the word "documentation" should be unfiltered pls.
man...
where ARE the guides, I see more spamming now a days.

i've been wondering where the guides have been.
I agree with HSR, offensive names SHOULD be deleted, in my opinion, without warning.
If you can't take a character, leave the game or /ignore them, just because HSR is a fiercely loyal Itani raider doesn't mean he deserves to be made fun of.
I'll chime in with the rest, we need more guides!!!! At last one on most of the day/during high points of the day.

I can tell you I would be on more if I were a guide... but there's nothing to do right now except get griefed by [certain people] who don't give a shit whether you're hostile or not.
There's no way to get better at the game without being disturbed by a griefer every 2-3 minutes. I admit right now that all of my PK's were either n00bs that attacked me or times I got _lucky_ in a duel. And I never use tri/quad sunflares because they are cheap and too fucked up to be fair.
Homestar needs to realize that while if a guide does deal with his problem, others are going to have problems with _his_ griefing habits, and that may send the guide(s) on him. Be careful what you wish for d00d.

You know what *really* strikes me a strange?
If I understand this correctly, someone used a nick called "HomestarIsGay".
Well, please tell me why this is sexually insulting?
It's interesting and quite revealing how people take it as an insult when somone speculates if someone is homosexual or not - really guys, what's so interesting about other people's sexual orientation?
I myself don't give a shit if someone is homosexual - it's a valid sexual orientation.

Know what's always fun? Tell them you are, even if you aren't... The reaction alone is worth it... :P
I agree with Celkan. If I were a guide, I'd be on more. I also FREELY admit that if I were a guide, homestar/janelle would be banned the minute I first logged on and phoenix wouldn't be far behind.
IF the community is going to grow, right now, the in game community NEEDS to be run with an iron fist IMNSHO. It wouldn't take long. A week or two TOPS but... right now everyone knows they can do ANYTHING they damn well want to and get away with it.

Heh, and that's why you're not a guide, Furball. :P
Guides aren't there to enforce gameplay "morals".

I've been away on vacation for a week, so that's probably why you haven't been seeing as many Guides on.
Ctishman is correct in that the Guides are not charged with enforcing moral gameplay, so smiting griefers is not an option (though I might ask one to ease up a bit occasionally).
Guides ARE charged with squashing spam and halting verbal abuse, including unwanted sexual innuendo. The "HomestarIsGay" nick is not permitted. The owner of this character may face actions that impact his entire account if I see it on.

Echoing ctishman's opinion, Furball. Guides aren't there enforcing what YOU happen to think is morally right or wrong. Guides are on to control language/attitude/spam, and deal with cheaters. Much less so with "Cheaters," because you can't cheat in Vendetta, you can only exploit. This isn't a game, but a test. Treat it as such.
The more Bank/SF nuke exploits, the more heat we'll put on the developers to fix the problem by introducing a timer after firing that has to run before you can dock (5-7 seconds). So, by letting Bank exploit and not banning him, you actually help the devs solve problems in the game. Look at how quickly the infinite turbo bug was fixed? What if the players that discovered it decided not to use it because it would be "wrong?" It probably wouldn't have been fixed as quickly.
What did Phoenix do that was so bad? Or HSR? They're just nasty Itani pilots. Avoid them.

Besides FurBall, you are already burdened by the viewpoints of having been a member of Red and Gold but not Blue except to spy, etc. A good guide would know nothing of Vendetta, as in exactly zip. It'd be someone from the outside who was given a chat console without the ability to play and only to listen/respond. But that might be going a little overboard. :)

The use of "gay" isn't exactly sexualy insulting to Homestar, but is still an insult because it was used as such. The nick is much like "Such-and-suchIsA****er".
What angers me most is that the "HomestarIsGay" guy used "gay" as the insult. The use of "gay" as a deragatory comment basicly equates to saying "All gay people are ****ers". That is not good.
PS: Can I be a guide? please? pretty please? :)
PPS: I always liked both Homestar, and janele, they're nice folks if you don't sweat over every ship.
