LinuxDonald spaketh: Can the VO Devīs add this GUI to the Game please? Itīs very nice :)
It's not possible unless the interface is completely retooled. We can currently make skins, but we can't change the size, placement, or orientation of most of the elements. Although I'm sure our wonderful Lord Spidey will take a crack at doing this one anyways. He loves making HUD skins.

But canīt the Devīs not add more support/settings for custom Skins?
Sure, we theoretically can. However, our time is currently focused in the areas that we think will be most effective in making the game More Fun.
Creating a different HUD, or more mechanics for skin-tinkerers, will not advance the More Fun objective nearly as much as our current projects.
Strictly speaking, I think the PCC Lua people might be able to make something like this, but I'm not totally sure. So, that's a possibility anyway.
Personally, I'm not a big advocate of filling in areas of the HUD for no functional reason (even semi-transparently). I tried to keep the HUD as "clear" as possible to allow for more efficient visibility. Of course, others may have different aesthetic choices, and that's what makes skins and plugins so great. However, do not expect something like this to be our default HUD.. ever (the general positioning of different components is fine, but not the big filled-in regions).

This should be quite possible for the PCC lua people, actually.
Though, on a personal note, while it's not a bad design I personally like the current one more and wouldn't make the effort to implement this HUD(as a PCC lua person) at all.

I think that gui what is now ingame ist to big.
I like the original JPEG image.
My suggestion to what appears to be the previously mentioned chat issue, would be to arc up the top of the HUD, and run the blue under the chat area.
Effectively this would make the chat box exist in it's own HUD "window" with the blue background running thinly below it, but would not interfere with reading it.
As for the HUD overall, I like it. Esp. how it frees up the central area but still gives me all pertinent data on the screen. I also like that it appears to give some more tracking/interactive notations on the main screen than the current one does, but that they are tastefully discreet.
As for the current HUD, I appreciate it's functionality, but I find that there's too many locations I have to monitor simultaneously. There's information such as ammunition status on my left side, and ship integrity on the right. Meanwhile the bottom contains target tracking data, but the top contains information about my target.
Don't get me wrong, it's a functional HUD, but when time counts, I need information close together for quick delivery, but also maximum view-space. The current HUD just isn't as efficient as I think this one could be.

I like this HUD design better myself...
...Maybe the chatbox still needs work, but eh, its getting there :P
[edit]
I have no problem using peripheral vision to keep track of my ammo, and I can also see (in both smoke and flames) how much damage my target has without taking my *central* vision away from the fight.
Do you suffer from tunnel vision?

Not to hawk my wares or anything, but TCS has a plugin that moves info about the targeted player to the center of your screen(Replaces the current warp indicator). Though it's probably disabled by default.
Hey what font is that anyway?
edit: er, duh. Hi! That is a nice looking font. I should see if it's hinted well at small sizes. Oh, it isn't. Surprise.
