Hello all, I am currently downloading the client so hopefully in about 30 minutes I'll get to try the game.

Stumbled across it on a random google search so have no idea what to expect.

Anyone care to share some pointers or 'must do things' as a new player?

Hope to meet you all in space soon.

14 days on trial? Do you mean eight hours? I don't think there's a limit on how many days you have to use those, but I highly doubt it will take you longer than a couple days, if that!

Welcome to the game.

Must do things: Fly to Sedina B-8 in your free government-issued bus, and make friends. That's where everyone hangs out to have a good, laid back, relaxed, friendly time.

Other than that, do the tutorial missions! All of them. They will answer almost all your questions, get you started, and help you avoid asking silly questions.

Good luck, and have fun!

Just saw the post on 8 hour trial, it was another mmo I just registered for I was thinking of :D

May I ask why it is 8 hours? Cant see how anyone can decide if they like a game after 8 hours tbh.

It's eight hours of total in-game time, over any period you want (single day, weeks, a month). We did this when we first started out, it seemed like a reasonable period to try the game and get the general idea of what it's like.

We have always had a permanent free trial period, without any credit cards or anything else required (most other games go through "phases" of free trial offers, although many are effectively permanent now. Almost no one had permanent free trials when we launched). Because our trial has always been available, and only requires an email address, we get a fair amount of people abusing new accounts for various purposes. The eight hour cap kind of limits what's possible for them, while still offering a decent taste to the genuine new people. We could mitigate abuse by putting trials on some special "newbie island" kind of thing, but then it wouldn't really be a taste of the actual game.

Anyway, we'll probably expand the length of the trial in the future (we experimented with that recently), but for the moment it seems to work.

We do occasionally offer longer trials under special promos, but haven't done any of those recently.

I see, I goto bed in like 1 hour so nice its 8 hours ingame.

Just playing through the tutorials, they dont seem to like me jumping ahead as soon as the guy in the frigate mentions the destination, he does not continue miksson when he gets there after me, so I have to jump out and back in again.

Once im done here I'll find Sedina B-8 wherever that may be :)

Hmm, so the problem is that you're plotting the course and jumping ahead? I see. I'll have to play through that one again. I've had reports of problems like that, but I wasn't really sure.. how.

Just be sure to let us know in chat on 100 that you're in Sedina B-8. I'm sure there will be plenty of nice, friendly people there already, but that will allow the friendliest of us to greet you and politely welcome you to the game.

And that is why B8 is what it is.

Welcome to the game though eh?

Achay...

Sedina B-8 is a most active warzone sector in the whole universe. If you get there and there will be players of another nation, you will most probably be shot on sight.

Before you go there, make sure to dock on any station in Sedina and press the MAKE HOME button to be able to respawn in this system, so you don't have to fly all that way again.

Chaos, it's not too good for newbies to start the game from being lied and killed, eh?

Brilliant advice--make it so that, even after being killed, the n00b is stuck in grey and at the mercy of those there! And you did so subtly, in a post meant to protect the n00blets--I commend you, sir!!

I think keyn is giving you a run for your money on the sinister front, Lecter.

The more, the merrier.

Mwahahaha!

Not only did keyn give a sinister suggestion, he did so in a way that made me look like the bad guy! Me! All I did was tell the truth; most of the friends I've made I've made in B8. And to suggest I would give sinister advice to a new player....

Shame on you keyn!

Welcome aboard! I just started playing about a month ago. I used to play Eve-Online but I'm much happier here. Less demanding of a game, more laid back, and great bunch of players. The game is under constant improvement.

I've done the tutorials and I've yet to embark into B8. Mostly I've been mining and hauling. (Not everyone is into PvP.)

I would like to see more players and more support for actual exploration/discovery, but I'm sure that will eventually happen.

Well, I only warned Achay about the danger of that place.

If he still decides to go there, I gave him the advice how to save some time from flying there again after death. It's his decision, not mine...

If you say, that there is a chance of some evil pirates keeping a newbie 100% locked in one system - I'd say this game is broken and definitely needs more gameplay rules and fixes. But I seriously doubt this is possible...

Anyway, good luck to you, Achay!

We all choose our own Path and suffer the consequences of this choice...

When I was very new, the first time I went into gray space, I got stuck. I'm not sure how I managed this, but I got a strike force mad at me and docked at a station, and made it my home station. For awhile, every time I launched, I was killed before I could warp out. Eventually they left me alone and I was okay.

It is possible to get stuck.

Hey Stryver, I haven't done mining in quite awhile (my mining license is 0). Next time you go mining, if I'm in game, give me a holler, and I'll come, uh, assist you.
