We appeared to be getting a lot better trial->sub conversion rates before the change, and we really need all the help we can get right now. When things are more solid and the overall playerbase has grown (and the game improved), I'll bump it back up.

I actually agree with you Inc, the amount of new pilots has increased, but the amount of active players has not.

It's like trial account abuse. I know if I could be bothered doing it, I could use a 16 hour trial and get a 100pk badge easy, if I was in the mind to, I could cook a roid to +1000K in 16 hours, see where this is going people?

Oh, yeah, and Inc, cos this is a thread you will prolly read, remove "opening the console" to leave 100 on the spammy tutorial mission. Really, opening the console is not easy for some European players. ~ is next to the enter key for me and does not open up the conole, my ` key does, now look at this keyboard...

Please please change the tutorial to enter commands into the chat box, and do not try to teach newbs how to open *the console* cos that wont work on all keyboards.

I should elaborate. I tried to help a spanish player complete the tutorial, I found a spanish keyboard and tried to bring up the console...

...I am still working on it.

Yoda: hmm, ok, I'll look into that. I knew that tutorial situation was less than ideal, but I tried to come up with the best solution I could. I'll see about finding a better one.

tell him to do a /ConsoleToggle and bind that to something... the default key never worked on a german keyboard under linux either. It does under windows but it's in a pretty inconvenient place there too.

I feel your pain, yoda. I have trouble with pretty much everything on this:



If I want to change strafe or roll directions, or fire instead of accelerate during a duel, I have to reconfigure the keyboard. That's why I mostly lose duels.

If things are financially tight right now, then make a cool change and email everyone who has ever subscribed to VO announcing the change. Lots of us follow the game and are looking for a reason to rejoin VO. A big influx of experienced pilots could generate some cool player content.

Cool changes take work and time, you know. ;)

Making enough "cool changes" is what we're shooting for. We just got the mailing-list thing together a little while ago, and it's been in testing with the PCC folks. I want to actually have *changed* enough stuff to make our first big "newsletter" something meaningful. Rather than another message to say "You wouldn't believe the great stuff we can theoretically do now that still isn't evident in the game!". So, trying to Add Stuff over the coming week, and *then* push out our first newsletter.
