Nation Change

Jul 18, 2008 Confessor link
If someone wished to change their nation say from UIT to Serco how would someone go about doing that? I have seen it done as Shar went from serco to UIT so I know its possible I'm probably just being dense. Any info would be appreciated.

Right now, I only know of two methods. You can delete and re-create the character in a new nation, or bug the devs.

I imagine that the reworked faction system, once implemented, will allow for this sort of thing. However, I wouldn't expect it to be a simple or easy task to accomplish.

thanks MSKanaka that is the answer I was looking for. I wasn't sure if it would be that one or one of the devs personally.

Personally, I don't think you should be permitted to do this without deleting and recreating the character. This is how it's handled in Eve as well. You are who you are. Asking the devs to do it for you just adds to their load and takes their time away from other game improvements. Might be light now but might not be the case later when VOL becomes more popular.

support@ has always been a black hole for me.

Well, Stryver, I think in the future they're planning on implementing some type of mechanism for changing your nationality, or at least it's been discussed. So hopefully in the future people will be able to help themselves, rather than having to ask for help. :)

People need to expect at least 3-5 business days on responses to support@ questions, especially for nation change requests. And especially if we're busy, which we are right now.

As a general rule, we don't do nation changes anymore, but we do make exceptions in certain cases. There's a lot of potential for exploitative scenarios, especially as we rebalance the faction system, and doing extensive analysis of the character's inventory is time consuming and must be done by hand (we have no tools for this, at present). As things move forward, nation changes are only going to more ugly and complex for us.. we will be putting some sort of mechanism in-game (with substantial repercussions and tradeoffs), and that's the eventual solution.

As far as support requests in general, Michael is working on a new support/ticketing system that will be accessible via the website (once logged in under your username), and provide some trackable information and feedback as to the state of your request. It will also inform all those requesting support that they will probably not receive an immediate response.

I wasn't trying to be a nuisance inc. and I apologise for being so. I knew they were few and far between and probably wasn't paying attention that day in class where you said you don't do them anymore :).

*and I just looked heh I'm not yella anymore. Do I get more cookies now Denj :). Thank you Devwhodidthechange I won't make you regret it.
