It happened to Shar last night the exact same way, and Moda was there complaining then too. I think Moda did it to both of them.

The "unknown entity" kill was registerd in my PVP log, so I gues it was a player who killed me.

If you were killed by Unknown Entity it means it can't find a name for the thing which killed you, which is generally caused by /oper /kills.

Why are people being oper-killed without given a reason?

It also happens if you are killed for example by a players missiles/ rockets in more or less the same instant they are due to be de-spawned because the launching pilot was killed. Happened to me a while back in Border Skirmish when killed by a swarm volley which had looped around, and struck me a little after the launching person had officially left the sector (No longer listed on sector ship list, not merely shipless).

It's possible that severe lag could cause this, if the person who killed you left the sector before your client realized you'd been killed.

^ is the /oper kill command message. I did it to myself when the PCC had admin commands for a few minutes (accidentally), years ago. So there's no question about that.

Poke Inc directly, or mom, ask them to check the log.

I remember I was using a ragnarok and had more than 50% health remaining, then suddenly I exploded. I'm pretty sure it wasnt swarms or flares.

Current theory is that Gavan and Shar were both killed by flares or other "persistent" weapons which were still active after the firing entity left the sector or died.

Apparently, that will also cause the "Extreme Prejudice" message.

However, digging too deep for answers might reveal answers that nobody wants. How far to you REALLY want to take this, Gav?

Not sure what you're implying, but if someone is cheating then I would hope that if the means exist to figure out who, then they would be utilized as such.

If no one is, and it's a bug that's happened twice in two days, then I would think the devs would want to sort it out.

According to the logs, Gavan Ardgall killed himself with a lightning mine explosion. I don't know why it said Unknown Entity, but we're looking into it.

So, Snax_28, can you verify that you had lightning mines around?

yes lmines were in that sector but not the other sectors. This whole thing may explain the weirdness I saw Gavan doing which was why I ask what he was using on 100. The weirdness was happening in multiple sectors as well. When I first ran into him it in Artana it was not there.

FYI gavan was in an X1 valk, so impossible for him to have lmines. I think I did try lmines at some point during this whole mess. That was at the verasi/edras wormhole.

No I didn't have lightning mines, but if Blacknet/Moda (I'm assuming that's the connection) had l-mines, and dropped them just before I killed him as he tried to jump out... Could be what happened.

Also, I don't have any idea if the "Unknown Entity" thing showed up on my end of the issue as I didn't look at my sensor log at all, nor did I notice it on the sector com...

What kind of weirdness, Moda? Framerate drops?
