Something I don't understand about this game...

Jun 26, 2008 Winter Owl link
If I want to send a message to somebody, but am not online at the same time they are, how do I do it? Maybe I'm just missing something very obvious because I'm a newbie.

Well, you are missing something, but it's not exactly obvious either. Deep in the game manual, in the buried sections long covered by dust, there is this page:

http://www.vendetta-online.com/manual/mul_buddy.html

Upon that page, you will find the arcane runes that allow you to inform thine friends of your intentions.

Or, without the dramatic setting, just use: /buddy note "<name goes here>" <message goes here>. It's limited to people in your buddy list.

I think you can only leave one at a time, and if you leave a new one it overwrites the last one. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks for the replies. :)

I'm still trying to figure out the basics of this game; it's very different from anything else I've tried.

I suppose any detailed private discussion between players - negotiating an alliance between two guilds, for example - has to take place outside the game and outside this forum. Probably at the guilds' own forums. Am I right?

No. You can use the "Off topic" fourms, join your own channel (do /join 2142563263q9542098756 <---whatever random number you want) Use pm's...whatever.

Well, the numbers can't be that big.
Any number between 1 and 2147483647 is valid.

I hear that the internet address suffix system is to be extended to cities, so perhaps vo should register .dau , .sed , .odi, .lat etc domains. Mining@tgft.dau will get through to me .

Just a silly thought ...

Any number between 1 and 2147483647 is valid.

Tsk tsk tsk

You guys could double that using an unsigned int.

Maybe there is a reason it has to be a signed integer? As in, the argument/function/whatev will read it as signed a priori, so you had better use a signed integer unless you wanted to end up outside of Kansas.

Because /join -# actually works.
