Is it just me, or...
isn't any of the new players using the BitTorrent option? I've been seeding for quite some time now, and noone seemed to want to dl from me. Are you other seeders (Transmission shows me 6) getting any traffic?
Some traffic but not much, been seeding on and off for a week and have the 4 vo torrents on a share ratio of about 2. Almost all of that downloading happened the first day of seeding..
I have to admit that whenever I got a choice to download something through torrent or http I automatically choose the latter, old habits die hard..

I on the other hand always choose torrent, at least partially cause µTorrent is better then any download manager i tried...
I've never known why, but as long as I can remember whenever I use BitTorrent the first thing I always check is if it's seeded by toshiro. If it is, I skip it and look for another one. So you should totally take it personally.
Also, I never use BitTorrent, partly because torrents are yet another thing blocked by the ever-so-awesome-and-reliable Cable One internet service out of Idaho Falls that my apartment offers. But I won't upgrade, since ironically I can play VO/download stuff from school as long as I don't connect wirelessly.

I knew it! They don't want my bits!
Yeah, I noticed that once a torrent finished for me, it would grind to a halt once the torrent was complete- all connections would get cut off. I eventually found out why while digging through the options- turns out my ISP haet torrents, and was haphazardly blocking remote contacts. In my case, setting it to use lazy bitfield transmission got things chugging along again.
I suspect the main factor is that the number of people that are using the torrent is simply low. Seeding the M$ torrent, it appears that the total number of completed transfers is only a rather meager 40. It's going to take ages to get my share ratio up to break-even...

My home machine has uploaded about 550MB across all four seeds. One of our main company seeds, on the other hand, has uploaded 10GB (across all four clients) in the same timeframe.
That's part of why you aren't seeing a huge amount of traffic, the two primary seeds are pretty fast. Still, seeding does help, and location and network can make a difference as well. We may get a bit of an upturn in traffic over the next week or two, we'll see.

I've seen just shy of 10GB as well, so no problems here.
Nice Inc and Krag, good to know those torrents are flowing.
Chaos, if you use utorrent, turn on the "random port" option in the options, as well as turning on encryption, and require encryption. If it's encrypted, and not on any 'standard' ports, your ISP will have no way of knowing it's torrent stuff..
The other option is, threaten to call the BBB, and tell them that while their OPINION of bittorrent, and other peer-to-peer stuff is such that they think only illegal stuff is traded, the truth is, many free, opensource operating systems are downloaded over peer to peer, such as the multiple linux distributions, as well as bsd OSs, not to mention the face that many online rpgs use bittorrent to distribute free trials and patches over bittorrent networks, and if they continue to tell you how you can use the bandwidth that YOU pay for, you will be sure to also contact <insert your local television news agency> about their draconian policies. *edit* Oh, and by the way, using bittorrent for these things actually HELPS OUT web/ftp servers, taking much of the load away from these servers, and distributes it more evenly, thereby increasing redundancy -and- bandwidth. *end edit*

can you tell I can't stand self-righteous asshole ISPs?

ISPs should just bill for bandwidth used over a given threshold. Which is pretty much what they're starting to do anyway. There's no such thing as "unlimited" bandwidth for next to nothing, it was a mistake to give people that impression from the getgo.
meh that'll suck for everyone but me.. since I work for an ISP... cable co. to be exact. :)
Well, I could have that power if I subscribed to my internet directly. But my apartment complex (for which I pay $635/month, about $200 more than average here but it's nice and worth it) got the basic Cable One package for the whole damn place, which is why it's so limited. I could get my own subscription, but it's not worth it.
Thank you for the advice, break, and I'd do it (I can't self-righteous anything) if it was worth the effort. Meanwhile I'll keep my VO subscription through July and play occasionally at school, until my intense Fall semester begins.

Finishing up, Chaos? Are we graduating together? ^^
Well, I'm older than most of my class, since I took a few years off before starting college. I'll likely graduate in December 2009, and I'll be 27.
Well, I hope to graduate before that (actual ceremony is in October), but it seems we are pretty close, temporally...
