"Drop Windows 98/ME/2000 support too dudes! Really..." id rather they not, especially 2k, my old p3 box dosnt run xp worth a shit, but runs ok with 2k (actually it might be running it's 98 hdd again, can't remember) hell the biggest difference between 2k and xp is 2k looks better and runs on lesser hardware (especially ram), xp looks like a smurf vomited on it and then tried to melt it clean.

darn... saw this thread too late. i had been running my blueberry ibook g3 with 10.2 for several years. i had planned to upgrade to 10.3 but i got cancer. i lay in the hospital, head shaved, peeing through a tube and drinking through a straw, wishing i were dead.
my only solace was the kind nurse who turned out to be a white supremacist and stopped talking to me when she learned i was 1/64th black.

anyways, after the cancer i had trouble getting a job. it was tough to get insurance too, for my meds. i take about 15 pills a day and my monthly medicine bill is about five hundred dollars. you can imagine that during all this i had to cut off vo for a while.

my brother borrowed my car while i was i chemo, but he wrecked it. i had insurance but he has the same name i do, and he doesnt have it, so they arrested him, and have been sending me bills, cancelled my drivers license, and took money from my checking account (automatic withdrawal and direct deposit suxx0rs).

this caused a few more checks to bounce, so now all the clerks eye me at the grocery store and there is a picture of my face at the register and it says 'do not accept checks from this person'.

so i had to start using a credit card to buy groceries. one month, though, i lost the bill. i tried to pay online, but i had forgotten the online password. my internet was not working, and my neighbor moved out so no more piggybacking. i went to the library but it closes at 4:30 during the summer, giving me only 1/2 hour after i get off work to go there and use the 'net for free. anyways, pile all this up, and i couldnt get my credit card online bill pay working. so i got dinged with a 50 dollar charge on my credit card bill for late payment. my balance was only 20 dollars... but whatever.

my economic refund check blew out the window while i was trying to drive to the bank to cash it. that sucked. i called them up and they said they couldnt re-issue it, it was a money order, they could wait 6 months though and then cancel that serial number and issue a new check. thats not gonna do me any good now though.

anyways you can imagine that with all this, the thought of paying for a new OS that i didnt really need , no matter how cool it was, was a little beyond logic. i just coudlnt justify the cost.

now i am finally getting back on my feet. i did a little work on the side for a guy down the hall, and i got payed last week for it. i was gonna get back on vo. basically it was my only joy in life and i really looked forward to ganking a few n00bs after i got out of the hospital. so i was trying to re-instate my account.

imagine my horror when after the new update, it just beachballed on me. i tried again. it crashed, spewing forth hundreds of lines of lunix garbage. i dont understand why the apple people felt the need to base their system on obtuse garbage operating systems, the linuxes, which let forth with tirades of useless braniac messages at the slightest system hiccup. 'it just works' my patootie. i sent yet another nasty note to mr jobs and tried again. but no hope. i guess, now that i see this thread, i understand what happend.

im just a little disappointed that the folks at guild didn't think about the little guy. the hard working man. the hillary voter. i guess they are all starbucks democrats in the geek world. my only hope is a pathetic, whining, rantish solliloqy on the nature of capitalism, socialist shortcomings, and the failures and hypocrisy of the geek world to realize the urgent need to give me free stuff and let me keep my 8 year old computer system without going and buying new stuff every solar cycle.

anyways, thanks for reading. i hope it seemed pathetic enough to lay a massive guilt trip on you.
