Very nice post Inc. A few questions/comments, because a newspost wouldn't be complete without Smittens' obscure and mostly useless questions.
- For people who have signed up for multiple free accounts in order to get cool names on the forums for RP posts, and have supplied the same email for multiple accounts, and checked "Put me on the email list!" for multiple accounts, will we get multiple emails?
- A suggestion, something that may help get lots of people to specific border skirmishes, I bet if we had some dev involvement (at least one on each team) people would be more likely to come. I'd be willing to call off some prior plans just to blast a1k0n without him turning on that damn invincibility!

Did I hear there's a potential influx of noobies?
Hmmm, retirement has been kinda boring lately...
Hahaha... this should be amusing.

smittens: we would filter out duplicated addresses.
also, I agree, I'm hoping that if we organize and email a bunch of people, we'll hopefully get more involved.. devs and otherwise.

Plus, all those people that kind-of expected to, you know, GET EMAIL when they signed up might actually get some email!
Heh. +1 for implementing the obvious, devs! Oh and good work on the rest of the update as well. :)

"...create new addons, ships, and other types of content, test them easily, and push them into production."
I dare to get my hopes up! it seems my prayers for more content, may actually be answerd.

Sure they will.
Soon.
Soon.
Not Soon, anything but the capital Soon!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
nothing could be worse than the playable capital ship pseudo promise that was the teradon excitement build-up before it was released.
we literally were in a frenzy about the upcoming ship where "spy shots" had been "leaked" but so dim and obscure we couldn't make out details. that was great; everyone pitched in into the excitement and try to photoshop-enhance the image so we could predict what it was all about. some even made 3d renders of models. all until about 1 hour after they were released. we couldn't toy with them, nor board them or anything. they were just another model for the automated convoys and later added to the bs (now there's an ironic and fortuitous unintended play of word).
so, when you're told new content arrives, weither imminently, soon enough, soon or sometime later, use a copious amount of crushed ice down your trousers and take patience. wait them out and see for yourself before you get too excited. it puts less pressure on the developers and avoids a possible deception for yourself.

You'll also avoid accidentally giving your money away in exchange for false promises...
oh. the promise were not false. just that the excitement build-up gave us a collective hard-on that was bigger than what warranted it.
we've been told "soon" for user cap ships for years and we knew there were hurdles for the current cappie to actually be doable, when the new mid-sized cappie was announced, amidst all the fanfare, we all (wrongly) assumed it meant user cappie.

Hahahahahah.
I just like reading these Newsposts. They're always fun to read
*edit* I meant "Fun to read" in a good way. I enjoy hearing about what the developers are working on, and what they are thinking.

Yeah, I never promised anything remotely user-playable with the teradon capship, or any of the others. I'm very careful about what I say, and I try not to raise unreasonable expectations: I know we have enough trouble with the limited goals we openly state. I attempted to make the release process with the Teradon more interesting, by giving it some storyline context. People and expectations got carried away. Ultra-high expectations are only worse for us.. we're working hard to make the content we can, and then when we release it, people are disappointed? That really sucks, if you're us. Potentially a lot more for us, even, since we put months of work into said "disappointment." So.. I try to be careful when mentioning that kind of content.
As for the new content reference in the newspost, yes, once Ray has the system in place it should be easier to add new things to the game. At some point in the not-too-distant future, I would like to get back to the "ever growing toys" thread, etc. But I am not promising this immediately.. the referenced development is still in process, and it's a pretty huge change (moving all the important data out of the static client and instead pulling it down remotely from the server, and allowing the data to be updated and propagated out to the live game in real-time.. this is a non-trivial technological challenge with a migration process).

This may be premature to ask, but here goes: With the eventual new, hopefully massive influx of players, will you be hiring more hands (programmers/artists) to your development team in the foreseeable future? I've followed a similar situation, (one developer, selling video editing software) and he was overwhelmed once he started getting an influx of customers.
While I'm not saying this will happen to you folks; you're doing the virtually impossible as we speak, but you're only four human beings who can take so much, computer automation to assist or otherwise...

Lecter...dont bring "Soon" into this. I have low enough hopes already.
reign, I don't particularly like you. Hence, the more unpleasant you find reality, the happier I am to emphasize its true nature.
you dont like me? damn my world is shatterd...oh well, I suppose you need your hobbies.
Now now boys, use your violence. Say it with ions, if you like, but keep it off the website please.
A-Dawg: umm, yes. But, that is a bit premature for the moment.
You guys should post twitter updates again :p
hey, does the new way to implement items mean ill get the drink mom is supposed to give me?
