VENDETTA RACING!

Jun 26, 2003 Suicidal Lemming link
Also:

If anyone gets the time, mines will be laid.
You can shoot people
You can kill people
You have to follow the roid crescent.

Basically, no rules except for the ship setup and follow the roids.

what if you don't follow the roid thingy? how would one actually if they're flying right by the side of the roids or not?
Jun 26, 2003 Urza link
Will take place when i can get a team of racers and miners/turrets as well as cash to fund the cup.

Here's how it works. You start off at 1 end of the roids in 15, and fly through teh roid field, folling the horseshoe of roids to the otehr side. Miners lay mines to dodge and people play as turrets and shoot at you.

Ship setup:
Cent
1 tach cannon
any B/E setup

spotters fly near the pilots.

It's more fun with multiple sectors. Remember the challenge to go from 5 to 4 in the old vendetta? I won 50k in that...

Heh, back when Boost-tapping was young, we would have races from the station in Deathmatch to the hollow roid in CTF. That was awesome :D

How a bouts a special racing sector?
Lots of tiny roids (like mines) to dodge and walls around you (prefereably transparent so people can watch) to keep people on the track.
Jun 27, 2003 Suicidal Lemming link
The walls would have to be tinted, and mines are better then tiny roids because of there tiny size they damage a lot, 30m detonation radius so they look small, but are actually big if you think about it.
Jun 27, 2003 Sage link
Do you mean the mines damage a lot or the roids? My problem with mines is that they are on a proximity charge so it's hard to judge how far to get from them.
Jun 27, 2003 roguelazer link
How about delayed detonation mines? Make them just like current proxies, but with a 2-second "activation". That way you can boost right by them if you are fast enough and pay enough attn.

multi-sector races are unfair and thus out of the question. whoever has the best computer leaves the wormhole first, and thus get sa huge lead.
Jun 28, 2003 roguelazer link
Actually, it has more to do with connection than computer I believe... :)
Jun 28, 2003 phxhawke link
Then how about having different races that are matched to connection speed to keep it somewhat fair? :)
Jun 28, 2003 Urza link
it deals with both connection speed and computers i think.

Muti-Sector races are dependent on those who have a fast connection and a good grapchics card, the loading screen is also rendering all the roids and what not, and some sectors have quite a few polys and lower ping is always good.

I think a race in s1 would rock, 3 laps around the station in the Ice Yo!, I do it a lot to work on my dodging and it looks damn cool when you are blasting through Ice Yo! and turret bullets are flying all around you, also people who sucked wouldn't live that long.

I'm going to get a import copy of F-Zero GX today, w00t!
