vendetta.mine.nu closing!

Jun 25, 2003 BusMasteR link
I'm sorry to announce that vendetta.mine.nu is closing, due to loss of server internet connection. I can't say at the moment wether or not it'll return, when connection is reestablisted - or if it returns at all. The guide will not be posted else where, nor handed on to others - cause of a growing amount of newbie help-out both in-game, and on the net.

Hey, can I have some of your data then? ;)
Jun 25, 2003 BusMasteR link
Tnxz Guys =)

roguelazer - I'll contact you when i know for certain what's going to happen, if it won't come online again - we might be able to figure that out ;)

Renegade - While the bad news is, no n00bsite =/ - the good news is that, i actually have time for my little stat-project =)
I'm counting on a beta-beta version release =D for locally keeping track of ones stats, as soon as i've got something working that does not require half-a-programmer to install =)

EDIT: I really hate my mistyping and spelling =)

:(

You should ensure the data lives on, it was a good thing.

I've burned backups of it - which were sendt to my safeplaces in each of the 5 world corners ;D And i'll keep the fight against commercial administration nuts going - to hopefully beat'em and deliver the site again...

(I should be able to return with a answer on this within 3 - 4 days)

The world doesn't have 5 corners, being that it is a sphere. =)

I'll miss the site. =(

Now considering there are eight corners in even this room I'm in, you could stuff five of them with backup drives.

Wah! So much cool info that we no longer have access to. ;(
Is it possible for you to put up a temp site on a free host? (angelfire, geocities, whatever)

Hiya.

I have a couple of spare domains I can offer you subdomains on.. ie: whatever.whatever.co.uk. Access via ftp, includes asp, php, cgi and all that crap. Email addresses also. Let me know if it would be of any use.

I should probably start a new thread to this, though its sort of on topic. I while ago I was saying in another thread that there is no way for newbie to know of all the different fan sites. Would it be a good idea for me to by a domain name suck as vendettaworld.co.uk (example) with seperate subdomains for the seperate sites?

Ie:

itani.vendettaworld.co.uk
seco.vendettaworld.co.uk

Maybe a homepage on vendettaworld.co.uk with general news, links to the subdomains etc.

Then there is one easy address to get to all the different sites.. easy to remember and everything in one place. I suppose it depends on the people that look after the individual races sites. It would be a fairly trivial thing to set up. Anyway, just an idea.

Okey - i've got a temporary server up running with the guide - on the same adress (vendetta.mine.nu), but it's temporary so a little unstability is to be expected. The reason i've been keeping the data to myself alittle yet, is that it's to be included when my new server goes online.
Some is propebly wondering what that stat-thingy i'm working on is. Well - i'm _aiming_ it towards the concept of "Wings", and stats that doesn't polute by botting, n00b/random killing. Basicly the wing-part of it, is stats - only displaying the kills/deaths/caps/ratios on pl's from other wings. this will be extended to wing battles - keeping track/easier manage of big deathmatchs, sector races etc.
For now i've got a working perl-script for locally keeping track of kills/deaths/issues in both PL's and NPC's. I'm in urgent need of someone to help me develop this for win/mac (mainly mac - i've got one looking on it for windows), before the thing is going serverbased. It's to be released as soon as the install is ready (within a day or 2).
