according to the forum moderators you should write your email differently so spambots dont pick it up

example (at) hotmail (dot) com

even if the vo boards dont have that problem you should be carefull on other boards that lurk with spammer and email harvesters

I just tried the recovery system on myself, and received the email no problem. I expect Hotmail is dropping it as spam for some reason. Double-check your spam folder, and if nothing else, try configuring a different email address (since you're able to log in, go to "Account Info" and enter a different address). Something other than hotmail. Gmail, Yahoo, etc.

Actually, newer mail spiders see through this obfuscation technique (the something AT blabla DOT com or other). You should make a picture of your email address, or hide it in html code (which is impossible here).

Tosh is right, most bots are trained to turn (at) into @ (dot) into . , so errm, best way is to find a contact you can email, or PM. they usually remove NOSPAM too, so that's no answer.

I like toshiros version, that defo would be missed by a bot.

Sorry for the off topicness.

Or you could just use your own secret code and stretch it out, right?

IE you could say:

"email me at myemail *#* gmail #!# com

where *#* is an @ and #!# is a ."

Or does that not work either?

Hotmail and Yahoo both drop lots of mail for no apparent reason. If you're going to try a different email account, go with Gmail.

Yah gmail is good.
You could spell dot like "dawt" which may or may not protect you.
In general, posting your email address on any public forum is like saying "Please Steal my Email Address."

Yes, that's where multiple email addresses ome in handy.

Frankly, most spambots recognize (at), (dot), AT, etc... and fill in the blanks. They also ignore whitespace. If you want to sanitize emails, you need to script them, or use more creative methods.

Just completely removing the the punctuation sometimes works. i.e.: smittens asshat net
