Lets say an entire sector was mined, You can always go around through other sectors. Thats what mines are used for right? Yeah keeping people off your tail can be accomplished with mines, but thats not what the mine was developed for. Personly I think they should stay untill they get distroyed, that or make tehm last atleast a good 3-6hours. If you think about it they are really quite easy to distroy, and very useful.

The vast majority of you who posted negitive things about them had often been at the receving end of mines. Personaly I would be ticked off to if I found my self on the receving end of that as well.

Another point is with capital ships, Mines will be quite useful. like the above post " it will stop or really slow down attacking forces"

those reading this might have picked up that english is my primary lang and that I am terrible at it =8^D

but, in order to mine an entire sector would require a lot of people and a lot of time, time is what we don't have because mines time out.

Friendly demining is extremely low when someone logs on as a traitor. But if someone on your team is acting like a jackass then you might want to be able to demine him. So I think splash damage should affect mines from missiles and torps, but lasers should not.
As for laying mine fields, I see nothing wrong with it. Mines are there for 2 reasons as far as I'm concerned. One is to get people off your back (lightning mines) and the other is to deny ground to the enemy (proxies). That is just the theory, but the proxies arn't that great so it's pretty much always lightning. Station mining is a bit low, but if you're perceptive you can boost out of the field before invincibility wears off or depend on an ally to nuke out the mines periodically. It's all part of the strategy of the game.

My thoughts exactly. Though I do feel that the time (15 min) as way to short to put mines to good use.
