Bullguard 8.0 Firewall config problems
I have the above Internet Security suite installed and when I enable the firewall I can't connect to the game. To be honest I don't understand a great deal about firewalls especially Bullguard's , which is quite a complicated one to use. Does anyone here use Bullguard 8.0 ? and if so how did you get the firewall to allow the client to connect to the server ?
If you don't have Bullguard, that's ok :) point me in the right direction and I'll see what I can do - I appreciate it :D.

From the FAQ on this website:
Will Vendetta Online work through my firewall and Network Address Translation?
The Vendetta Updater, the auto-update program that executes prior to game startup, makes an outbound connection to TCP port 21024. Once updating has completed and the game itself is fired up, a connection is established upon login attempt to UDP port 21141. Thus, any modern firewall capable of "keeping state" on outbound TCP/UDP should require no alterations. Other firewalls and packet filter implementations may require specific configuration changes. Both the updater and game work fine through Network Address Translation.

Thanks for your reply, I read the FAQ before posting but I don't quite know what to do with Bullguard. The updater works fine, but I don't understand this part of the FAQ very well to make the alterations. I could try sending a message to Bullguard, with the part of the FAQ included, and see if they can give me specific instructions for their software.
Poke around the software for a "port forwarding" option. You *should* be able to tell the firewall to let anything on those two ports pass in and out. I'll poke around on the Bullguard website, see if there's anything about that.
EDIT: They seem to have a place where you can do a text chat with support staff here: http://www.bullguard.com/support/live-support.aspx -- I would try that first if you can.

Thanks for your help MSKanaka - really appreciate this !
At the moment I'm using my laptop, so I won't be able to try anything until later on when I'm using my home desktop, but the live support option sounds good. I'll post my findings later on :).

Right, I've been in touch with Bullguard and they say that my Router Firewall needs to be de-activated to resolve any conflicts. The trouble is I've logged in to that and there is no option to turn it off. I have a Netgear DG834GT Wireless router and my connection to it is by LAN.
Ask them how to turn it off.
I've sent a support request to Netgear on how to de-activate the firewall. They say on the product website that if there are any conflicts I should shut down the software firewall and use the router firewall, but I'm not confident about doing that. Let's see what they say.
Edit: Router firewalls aren't as secure as software ones are they ? I mean with software you can allow or deny access so how does a router firewall secure the connections without input from the users ?

You can access most router's internal settings by typing their IP address into your browser.
If the advanced settings asks for a password, most accept "admin" as a default.

Thanks, I am already familiar with logging in to my router - but I have some good news :)
My router manufacturer got back in touch with the instructions to de-activate the firewall. I did this but it made no difference. So I had an idea to actually log in to the game server with the Bullguard firewall off and then activate the Bullguard firewall during a session to see what would happen - it paid off because Bullguard told me that one of the client files wanted access and when I granted it the access it worked fine. I restarted my computer to see if it would work again and it did so the rule was remembered.
I do wonder though why Bullguard didn't ask to allow access initially though.
Thanks for all your responses and maybe you may want to put this little trick in your FAQ in case anyone has similar problems in the future with Vendetta Online and Bullguard.
See you. . . out there !

I was just getting ready to tell you to do that. I've had similar issues with Norton that are fixed the same way. I don't know if vendetta.rlb slips in under the radar or if it's even a Vendetta-specific issue, but it can happen with updates too.
I asked Bullguard why that file wasn't generating a request for access and they say it's because the two firewalls conflict and shutting down the router one, of course, solves this. It was their firewall I had to turn off though since my router worked fine with the client. I told them about my solution and to keep it for any future users who have similar problems and they said they would do so - I hope they actually do, because it was a fluke that I got that idea at all :D.
