Looks like there are a couple of players experiencing the same problem with the latest corvus mission..

I did some calculations, and have come up with some retail values for the Corvus Widowmakers.

Base Price:
10x Premium VanAzek Ore: 7,000c
15x Premium Carbonic Ore: 900c
15x Lanthanic Ore: 15,000c
15x Heliocene Ore: 36,000c
Subtotal: 58,900c

Low-end Components:
1x Ion Core: 500c
10x Silksteel: 1,820c
Subtotal: 2,320c

OR

High-end Components:
1x Ion Core: 1,350c
10x Silksteel: 8,060c
Subtotal: 9,410c

Processor Cores*:
2x Dentek Processor Core: 10,000c
1x Guardian Processor Core: 5,000c
Subtotal: 15,000c

Subtotals:
Low-end components: 76,220c
High-end components: 83,310c

Taking into account the VO economy's 200-300% markup:
Low: 152,440c - 228,660c
High: 166,620c - 249,930c

Of course, other players are more than welcome to define their own prices for the items, or even for 'kits' of components, but right now if I were selling the weapons directly, 250k is roughly how much I'd be selling for.

*These cores are worth 9c to sell in the station, but given time/effort involved in procuring them, I'd give them a price of about 5k each.

Of course, the costs of goods used to manufacture an item are usually far less than "retail", due to supply agreements and bulk purchasing. Otherwise the manufacturer has a lot more trouble being profitable.

I fixed some bugs in the mission (like, say, that it requires Power Regulators, DUH). But it may still have issues that are beyond my ability to fix, and will have to wait until after the holiday. Sorry. Try at your own risk.

Well those retail values are the lower bound for a pair of CW. Prices above $1M have also been quoted, but we don't yet have enough "bids" and "offers" to form a view as to a market clearing price.

The materials cost base above is calculated correctly. However, on top of this you have to add the labor, to reflect the time, effort and knowledge/skill. Just as an example, if someone doesn't want to piss around for 30 mins to get 2 Dentek processor cores .... If someone spent 2 hours assembling the above shopping list, but did not realise he needed Power Regulators too.... The risk of piracy .... etc.

At the end of the day, the price of Corvus Widowmakers will be dictated by how much people are willing to pay for them, by the amount of sellers (Supply()) and the amount of Demand(). I personally wouldn't pay $1M for a pair of Widowmakers since I don't have a Cent Superlight (yet ...).

The mission works fine , but messages along the lines of " the following have been delivered" in the mission log would be useful . Similar sort of thing to the messages from trade guild missions.

I just completed my first manufacture of a pair of widows other than getting the pair of guns I didnt recieve any xp towards either of the licences I would have assumed it would raise and or faction. It's just my 2 cents but I thought I would mention it and see what comes of it.

There's no reason you should get a faction gain, as it was a simple business transaction - you provided resources, they provided manufacturing.

The magic of any transaction, business or otherwise, is that it lets you and the people you dealt with to make or reinforce opinions about each other. If only there was some sort of number that could be used to represent one faction or another's opinion of each character...
Jan 15, 2008 incarnate link
That may be true, Genka, but the basis of the mission is basically "character puts a bunch of stuff in a manufacturing unit hopper, and presses a button". The only thing that really proves is, well, you're capable of not drawing graffiti on their machine or trying to rip it out of the wall or something.

In general, I favor giving standing for general transactions, since they do reinforce (even to a minor degree) that the party is reliable. So maybe I'll make it add a tiny bit of faction, but probably not much.

This makes me recall an idea I had several days ago - there should be two standings for each faction - one would reflect how said faction trusts you in military matters, the other would reflect your civilian (perhaps trade) standing with them.
Examples:
- A seasoned cutthroat-for-hire who reliably kills any target for right sum of money, but you wouldn't trust him with a delivery of valuable cargo
- A dependable and honest trader, who has reputation for being able to get exotic goods and always delivers as contracted, but you wouldn't trust him with a gun, because he can't fight and would cowardly run from any defense post if attacked.

This would allow for more varied access control to faction-specific mission - once there is more of them of course.

Ooh. I'm fond of that idea. I wonder what the devs think of it?

I like Ticho's idea especially since Im a "cowardly" trader. dont get me wrong Im not afraid to die, I just chose to try and avoid it when possible. But I will shoot if shot at, even if Im outclassed.
