That's really the only one you need. He'll direct your inquiry if need be.

The point in using (at) and (dot) was to avoid spambots which scour the web looking for email addresses to send crap to or sell.

Well done Shadoen, you've exposed John's email to to spambots....
one thing i always wondered howcome the vo board is not filled with automated spambots crapping all over the place
is it because of the way the devs made the board different or is it real hard to make lots of multiple accounts real fast

couldn't spambots have become programmed to read the (at) (at) format as well? i mean, everyone uses it, why not have spambots read it as well?
People will find new ways to avoid the spam bots.
That and the bot-writers are too lazy to get the email addresses themselves (hence the bots), so it's a fair guess that they might be too lazy to modify the bots' code... :P

Some spambots are able to recognize "munging" techniques to avoid them.
There are ways for website creators to shut out spambots, but I don't know if Guild has done that. I wouldn't be suprised. I can say that most of the meager amount of spam I've deleted over the years appeared to have been placed by a live person who posted in such a way as to directly appeal to VO users.

Strictly speaking, we would rather people sent emails to support at guildsoftware or billing at guildsoftware, respectively. They're at least "Role" accounts that go to multiple people (including me). So, if I'm out of town, or away or having some kind of email problem, your issue will still be seen by someone.
As far as spam, our addresses are the gold standard of spam usage by which all others are judged, thanks to them being publicly posted on http://www.guildsoftware.com since the late 90s. But, we still try to reduce it from new exposure, especially the newer role addresses that aren't specifically linked from anywhere.

hrmm ive been using the same address for about 10 years now, and ill easily get several thousand messeges a day delivered to my bulk email folder, and that's nothing compared to what i get if i turn off the spam protection.
most of them are complete gibberish too for instance i got an email titled Re:no classes ph.d/degree/diploma zombie
ok zombie diploma's great just what i never wanted to even hear about.
oh lets not forget their trick ok making the date on the email read 2038 so it automatically sifts to the top of the pile
