Lookin for EVE players
Just found the game and have been playin eve since release as a pirate. Wonderin how the fellow eve players think of the pvp/pirating in this game?
i played the demo for about a week
winning a Pvp fight in vo does not rely on equipment (to an extent) or levels the fight is determined by player skill and a good battle strategy
i find eve to be very complicated and very boring but thats just my take on it :)

In VO, you're actually flying your ship "by hand" and are viewing the action from a first-person perspective, unlike in EVE where you are viewing the game from a third-person perspective.
Combat is almost entirely skill-based, and the player's hand-eye coordination/twitch skills are much more valuable than the amount of time the person has spent playing the game. If you're good at FPS games, you should do fine once you get used to moving your ship around in a fully 3D environment. In EVE it was more of a "point and click" combat system, much more like an RTS.

Ganking someone is just a matter of being faster, since you have to be really far away from any stations or asteroids to jump. It's basically impossible to pirate someone who is in a fast ship. Also, there's not really such a thing as long distance combat. Even rail guns don't have a very good chance of hitting unless they're really up close. (200m atleast)
As for the rail thing. they can hit a target up to 1000 meters (advanced railgun). Which is obtainable at 500 player kills. I've killed targets at 800m before using rails in a fight. I personally like to stay further than 200m as you auggest. You can't get too close or you'll be overwhelmed.
Oh yeah, and all the ships pretty much have the same speed anyways.
Nope.
EDIT: Yeah.... still nope.
