everything other than VO seems to run fine. but when vo starts, all i get is a black screen till i click the mouse a few times. then i get the picture of the bacground station, and two boxes, any text i type there dosent appear. if i enter in my username and pw and then hit enter the EUKA comes up, just a big blue box with no text.

the card is a geforce 6800XT 256mb

I have already updated the drivers, reinstalled vo and reinstalled direct x

here's the directx9 file from vo,

how would i try specifying opengl int he config file?

actually wasnt as hard as youde think trying to guess my way around, probably not actually a good sign.
Sep 28, 2007 raybondo link
cool.
it looks like the textures didn't load.
That would explain why you see a black screen for a while. that would be the loading screen.

ok it may look cool but how do i fix it?

i may be able to fight with busguns but this, i dunno

That's pretty strange, dude. Have you been using this card all along, or just recently? What's the OS?
Sep 28, 2007 look... no hands link
just switched it it a few hours ago, runing win2k
oh here this is from the config file

[directx9]
version=3
windowmode=0
vsyncoff=0
gamma=15
triplebuffer=0
mipmapfiltering=2
texturefiltering=1
envmap=1
bumpmap=1
specular=1
illummap=1
textureresolution=1
texturequality=32
dxtc=1
aa_type=0
aa_quality=0
multipass=0
ps_hack=0
surroundmode=0
automipmap=1
maxmipmaplevels=5
shaders=0
maxshaderversion=512

perhaps theres something i can change there?
Sep 29, 2007 raybondo link
try changing dxtc to 0.
can you post the directx.log file?

That's odd that it enabled compression. It shouldn't on a 256MB card.. I'm guessing that's your pre-existing config.ini? Have you tried deleting the config.ini and re-running the game?

Also, have you run any other games or 3D software on this card? This smells kind of like a hardware problem. FWIW, I have a 6800GT in my machine at home, and have never had a problem with the game.

ive tried killing the config file but that didnt seem to help, so i tried subbing in my old one.

yes i have tried other games but none as intensive as this, while sleeping i came up with another possibility, might be the 250watt powersupply isnt capable of delivering enough power when it has to work hard.

i backed up my old install data when i uninstalled and reinstalled, perhaps i should try again only this time, kill the whole vendetta directory?

ray,
my first post has my directx9.log file
Sep 29, 2007 raybondo link
oh yeah, duh. heh.
even removing your config.ini file didn't help? I have no idea what's wrong.
Sep 29, 2007 look... no hands link
nope removing config file didnt do it.

i hope i dont have to send this card back, my 440mx basically cant run vo anymore.

You may be on to something with the power supply. You've got the new card, plus a few fans running, and your system is challenged by heat issues. I'd take the opportunity to get a new power supply with a good fan in it.

yea whisteler i think your right

for the time being im attempting to run my hdd and fans off of a 20 year old at power supply.

actually i could probably run JUST the video card off it, but i dont trust it that mcuh, im running a backup hdd just incase, this thing sat unused in my attic for the better part of a decade.

vo starts up faster and slightley better that way, probably time to get a new psu, my old good one is in pheonix (im near philly) and I wont get it back for a long time. I left it at a friends house and he killed himself a month ago, no next of kin and no will so everything he owned is all tangled up in courts and bullshit.

that shoudl do it, damn thing will take a week to get here

just borrowed a 500w thermaltake coolpower2, no dice, still all messed up.

now ive got to send that one back and wait for them to send me another one, that will take about two weeks total, might be able to get them to cross ship, mwave's customer service is the best ive encountered, which is why i keep on going there.

at this point get the hammer

kidding well try another 3d app try and localize the bug if it only happens in open gl apps like vo try using different programs like unreal run DX diag and if all fails get a different card some cards like the 9550 were incompatible with my system because i already had a integrated video chipset on my Motherboard

another thing that sounds really dumb but i had this problem before is where the outlet does not have enough juice and the video card gets disabled or it runs with minimal power and its buggy so try a different outlet preferably not one on a power bar

and again try to localize the bug see what you can do and what you cant then it give people more info on how they can help you just random troubleshooting doesn't get you very far unless its a really simple problem which unfortunately is not your case

it did the same thing in return to castel wolfenstein, the comp is plugged into a ups box so i doubt it will be getting low power, the box should compensate for it, still wouldent be a bad idea to run a bid extension cord to one of the 30A outlets in my garage.
Sep 30, 2007 Cunjo link
If a 500W won't do it, it's not the power supply, unless you're overclocking something ludicrous.
Sep 30, 2007 Lord~spidey link
well LNH i dunno bout the 30A plug in your garage i dont think its gonna make a difference /me scratches head thinking

im out of ideas for now if i gess try with a different video card like ATI
Sep 30, 2007 look... no hands link
im just going to call mwave and get them to send a new one while i send them the old one, it was a refurbished item, so perhaps it wasent fixed all the way.
