Better Bots
will we be able to lead bots into other sectors eventually?
I think there should be another sector with better bots in there, beacuse the 350 bots are getting to easy to kill.

If bots are too easy, then you're ready to take on human players. A good way to do this is to go and steal another team's flag, and try to get it home. You'll have fun!
Or start attacking aces in a stock bus. It's a great challenge, and you'll be lucky if you manage to kill one of them. :P
We're trying to make the bots better. That's part of what 3.2.6 was about. AI development is kind of a research project in its own right.
With the new system, is it theoretically possible for bots to exist as entities separate from their sectors? E.g. traveling bots?
No, not yet. That's not too far out though. The recent changes were implementing the new pathfinding system. The algorithms need tweaking and the AI scripts need work, but the fundamentals are much improved.
Hopefully. Then we can lead ALL the bots into sector 3 and leave them there. Mwu hahahahahahahahahahaha.
That would make an awesome base defence. Of course you couldn't enter either, and noone would join that team.

Actually, it would make for much more realistic trading bots... For having bots chase people through sectors, couldn't you have something like (in my own little language)

I think the problem is handing off the AI code between sectors. They are "attached" to their sector. At least, that's MY understanding of it.
NOOO!!!!! NOT HARDER BOTS! I'm sooo sick of fighting off 5 bots in sector 10 and getting whittled down to 15% only to be triple teamed by a 150 and 2 250's. It's insane. And the one's in sector 17 just sit still while you shoot them. I can't get any trading done (14-15 will always be my fav. route, I will not give it up). It's really sucking the fun right out of everything. I can't wait till I get triple teamed by some bots and they hunt me from sector to sector, and then I'll accidentally run to 6 and a gold n00b will get hit in the crossfire then I'll have 6 bots and Arolte and the rest of the Neuts on me and I'll go to 12 looking for help and it will be nothing but n00bs with scores higher than mine shooting 75 bots and they'll be like "Wha?" then I'll run to two and they'll kill me before taking our flag multiple times.
...so run to Sector 1, or just dock until they go away. However, I doubt that a persistant bot would be as single-mindedly homicidal as the current restricted ones.
Ku, never underestimate the persitance of a bot. Oh and btw, what's up witht the SecureNet? It doesn't seem to work.
I left my Dorm when the school year ended. I'm away from broadband and staying with my family for the time being until I can get an apartment with DSL. At that point, I'll be able to re-enable the SecureNet gateway servers.

traveling bots would be bad news for n00bs... think of it... a n00b trying to trade from lets say 6-3 with a 350 bot that just wandered in and wont stop chasing him. thats the problem i see.... and i just hate bots.

To sovle this would be to limit where the bots could go, eg. the no bots would be able to travel to 6, 4, or 12. These being noob sectors this would work.
Thus would make the game more realistic if the bots traveled, and hopefully will trade in the end, in diifferent ship, ie gold specail. I think that this would improve this game alot.

yes, that would solve it... but... uh... yeah.
but we should still have the bots be able to go in to 1,2,3 sectors from 6, 4, or 12. just to see our defenses kick in... fun to watch probably.
