How can we help?

Sep 12, 2007 Incompetnce link
I don't know if this is the best place to post this, but it will do... I would like to know what I can do to help in the development of Vendetta Online. Other than pay my monthly fee and contribute to the suggestions board, is there anything I can do that is of a material benefit to VO's development? My modest knowledge of programming will be of little use, I am sure, but I would like to get more involved somehow...

You could log on to the vendetta test server. I'm sure someone more acquainted with it than me (I only logged on to it twice) can tell you how. The question is, of course, if your character profile has been updated on it already.

i don't know about paying your online subscription trough work with the devs but you can certainly check out the PCC
http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/pcc

you can make a skin http://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/1/13370
or a plugin

or help by making the game more fun for other people by helping noobs and being generally nice

If you know or are willing to learn Lua, you can also join the plugin community.

yeah "be nice" and "don't be an asshole" would be easy and helpful things to do :-) just be aware there will be a few pirates around.

You could call some of the delivery places near the office and get a couple of real meals per week delivered to the Devs. (I don't think they eat too healthy.)

This is my idea of the devs diet: Aspirin, Red Bull Verasi coffe and cookies and on rare occasions when they need that extra boost of energy (after weeks of sleep deprivation)they eat ram dimms and cpu cores :)

Don't forget heaping bowl-fulls of Sedina chocolate (Ray's favorite)!!

PCC and testing the heck out of missions are probably the best suggestions offered, Incompetnce.

Reporting, in detail, the problems you run across in all aspects of VO is a big help too.

Miharu, I want to learn lua, but don't know where to start. I've done a little c and java and some other things. Do you have a good website?
Sep 13, 2007 MSKanaka link
http://www.lua.org/ This is the main Lua website.
http://www.lua.org/manual/5.1/ This is the online manual for the current version of Lua, which is what is used in VO.
http://www.lua.org/pil/ This is another resource you can use, but it is geared towards Lua 5.0, not 5.1. Most of the stuff in here is still valid, however, so feel free to use it. (Or, you could purchase a hardcopy of the second edition, which is for 5.1.)
