Reformation of "Community Sites" links.

Aug 16, 2007 Dr. Lecter link
Of the four listed links, two are to player guild sites ([TGFT] and [VPR]). Neither of these has any more or less place under "Community Sites" than any of the other major guild pages.

Either remove these two, or, open it up to the addition of related links.

Hmm... Our community link used to be the [VPR]pedia.

"This wiki gives newbies and traders valuable information on the subject of piracy in Vendetta Online as well as other interesting information. It is intended to help deal with pirates, griefers and attackers of all kind. Please feel free to register and contribute."

We already have that link currently used in Community Sites under the Player Guilds page.

Umm, what exactly isn't "open" about it? The email address to have stuff added is listed there. I've gotten a whopping single "VO Community Site" email this *year*, and it was a request that a site be removed.

I think what Lecter means John (mind if I call you John?) is that with guild related sites being listed (The VPR wiki is very guild central, they do not allow none guild members to update it (/me glances at tumble, and ROTFLFHO) so it becomes more a *Related Links* section, rather than a *community projects* section, cos the community has no say in either the VPR wiki, nor the TGFT wiki.

I see what he is saying, but I have no idea why he is saying it now. But renaming the Community sites to Related Links wouldn't hurt I guess, cos like, you might actually get some related links that aint dead, and stuff ;)

Eh, Lecter is a n00b-lawyer. He can't stand slights in definitions :D.

Basically, the current links are to two guild home pages, not even guild-biased wikis.

If you want to have a second set of highly visable links for guilds, open up Community Sites to all guilds with a website. Otherwise, TGFT and VPR already have space in "Player Guilds", same as other guilds, and they need not have their links in Community Sites.

I'm not sure WTF MB is smoking, but these read like they belong under the Player Guilds link:
The Guild of Free Traders [TGFT]
URL: http://www.tgft.org/
Operator: BlackHalk
Abstract: Site is dedicated to this active trading guild, with information on members, trade routes, etc.

The Viper Guild [VPR]
URL: http://www.viperguild.com
Operator: M. Duncan
Abstract: Dedicated to the Viper Guild, with forums and other information.

I'm not smoking anything... I *cough* swear!

Before the Community Sites page was updated, the link pointed to the VPR wiki, which anyone who registers can update and make changes (last I knew.)

I agree that our guild web page shouldn't be listed there. Although, it makes sense to have a link to the VPR wiki instead.

Lt. MB is correct in all points.

Acually, anyone can edit and contribute to the VPR wiki site. It IS a community site and services newbies and players of all kind. Just Register and login to contribute.

All we have done in the past was lock certain pages that had been vandalized (like my character page and a couple of others).

So yes, under Community Sites it should have the VPRpedia there linked under: http://www.viperguild.com/wiki

EDIT: I have submitted to the given email address the updated information regarding this VPR Guild Community Site, thanks incarnate.

Umm, well, if people feel strongly about removing guild home sites from that listing, I can do so. "Community Sites" greatly predated our having the "Player Guilds" listing, so I always allowed guild links on there as part of the greater "VO community" (it didn't, at that time anyway, mean public community all-access, just a greater family of sites based around VO). Anyway, meanings change, and with the dedicated Player Guilds links, there's no reason to be redundant. So, from now on, shall we have Community Sites be dedicated to projects which provide resources to the VO-playing public? I support that.

For the record, I do not think the Viper Guild link has ever pointed to the wiki. I don't remember that it did, and I wouldn't have changed it unless the wiki was broken for some time, or something along those lines. I've received the request to change it over to the wiki, and will do so.

The vipewiki thingy can be edited, I was just there not too long ago, despairing on the fact I have no secretary that can make the necessary CLM changes...hehe.

Thanks much incarnate.

Yep, Mystic, feel free to add your content.

Ok, updated.

Updates for the Community Sites should be worked on.

Obsidian's strategy guide is excellent, yet needs a SERIOUS update. Perhaps I will work on "Obsidian's Strategy Guide updated by LeberMac".

Evolved Vendetta at EvolvedOnes.com is no more.

Other two are fine, but seriously the VPRpedia and the wiki are about it.

Someone write some more community pages!
