So i am new but i have my license at 1/1/-/3/1. i can not gain access to anything at other then the first two or three items. I have been working out of two or three stations but even still the 3rd power core from the top is still “specially sanctioned personnel only” i can only upgrade my power core to the next best thing to free..
I don't have any idea how to build faction other then running missions (witch i am) and i still don't have any way of getting new stuff.. people have posted in game that i need mentor points and you get them by helping newbs.... well i am a newb so i cant help any one else ccuz i don't know whats going on.
Any body?? half the stuff i wanted never had a license requirement so why cant i get to it??
thanks for any help i know i am missing something vary obvious and right in front of me.. but i am just not seeing it.

Sorry to hear you're having such trouble, though it appears that you're on the right track overall.
The ultracharge battery http://www.vo-wiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Equipment does require that you get the Mentor badge. That IS a pretty tall order for a new player - and you're not expected to have one yet. The heavy and the fast batteries are pretty good in the meantime. Different stations have different equipment available, and stations in "grey space" have lower requirements (though you will be in serious danger out there).
Other items require high faction, which you do indeed gain by taking missions and killing bots (and lose by killing the wrong things in monitored space). It does take awhile. Vendetta is not intended to be a game that one can master in a short time, and new content is going to be added that will make this true even for those of us who've been around a few years.
Your comments are helpful in that the developers are very interested in making things less disorienting for new players.

Thank you for the wiki link, I have it set in my favorites now.
How can I find out when new items become open to me from a faction?? I am UIT and I believe in my standing with them I am admired ( I think sorry at work cant log in.) so coming from the wonderful non space ship world of WOW, how much dose a faction have to like me to unlock new stuff.
I know each is going to be different but is there a place that’s says you have to have x number of faction points to get an item?
thanks again
Paul

Paully6. Welcome to the game. Most Items aren't based on faction but licenses. At 1/1/-/3/1, most items are out of reach for you. The wiki gives ship and item stats. It will tell you what licenses, faction, or badges u need to get an item.
I suggest u take the beginner combat mission and kill bots for awhile. Once u get better combat, light and heavy weapons licenses more ships should become available to you.

I see I need to say this yet again.

It's all here: http://www.vo-wiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Equipment
Some of the requirement fields have images of the necessary badges. Click on those for details.

I understand the level requirements. I have the required level or above from some of the equipment.
But no one can tell me how good of standing do I need to be with a station or faction in order to get it. Even the most basic things that have a -/-/-/-/- level requirement are still
“specially sanctioned personnel only” to me. I beat the level needed but I still cant get the stuff do to sanctioned personnel only.
So how do I see what it takes to become that sanctioned personnel only? And so far the wiki has not show me any of that information.

I think the info is in the wiki. When you get home, pick some items that are for sanctioned personnel only and post them. I'll walk you through it and we'll see.
Also, what stations are you checking? Maybe there's a bug that is preventing the level requirements from showing?

Cutting to the chase , since people feel cryptic right now;
For a faction to trust you with more them basic equpment, you need around 200+ positive faction. For their special items, 800+.
Procurment missions are good for getting faction.

"Sanctioned personnel only" is the generic message we give to unlockable equipment. It can mean any number of things. In some instances you need to complete a mission tree, or have mentor points, or faction standing. The wiki isn't necessarily complete on this point. Originally this stuff wasn't even visible and players had to discover it. But then it looked like the game didn't have anything in it to new players, so now players are left to discover the particular meaning of "sanctioned personnel", and then put it in the wiki...
I think I'll make a page that lists everything that is unlockable and how to cut back on this sort of confusion. Expect it to be finished in the next few days.
Ok Just so we all know what my standings are here we go
Nation : UIT (+773) 1/1/-/3/1 Arta caelestis J-12 is my home
I have been running around but i went back just to see and i am going to hang out there for a while.
Also TGP corp (+697)
haven't be around any other nations or stations to be any more then neutral
in small add ons my BEST weapon is the; Plasma Cannon HX
Large add ons; Stingray Homing missile
and other; Light power cell.
I know its not all cash related but it seems to take a long time to gain access to this other stuff. If you guys tell me i am just that low level then fine.
Maybe since faction has something to do with what one can buy it should say to buy X you have to have 4/4/1/-/- AND +12000 points with UIT.

1/1/-/3/1??
LOL
LOL
Lecter, i think he already stated that he just began playing....
Paully6: the highest faction standing is +1000. All faction related things you can get with +800. Most items don't have a faction requirement though. They just charge you more for that item.
"sanctioned personnel" means you have to do something special to get something. Look up the item you want on vo-wiki.com and it will tell you what you need. Or ask in game.
I would work on your licenses by taking combat, trade and mining missions. Then u can get ships and weapons that do have license requirements.
By the way, corvus stations in Odia and Sedina, will sell you stuff for less licenses. But its Grey space so be careful of pirates.
I do agree that there should be the exact requirements in game for each "sanctioned personnel only" object though.

Ignore the "specially sanctioned" stuff for now, and look at what you can get for pure level increase.
Click a gun, or whatever, and read it's text.
Besides, the HX is pretty good.

Shadoen, my point is that he has access to very little at those levels. So why the bitching?
@Lecter: You sure are not being productive or critical as to help the new player.
@Paully6: It's all simple, the wiki makes it even more simple. Standing and levels are the key and the quickest way to gain standing with a faction is to do that faction's missions. If you don't want to bother with the factions that aren't the nations (UIT, Itani, Serco) then you can kill bots within nation space gaining levels in only a few areas and slowly gain faction standing for that nation.

Surb, all I can do to be productive here is explain he's not supposed to have access to jack squat at his levels. WTF else do you want?
I know i have limited access to stuff, BUT with the expetion of space ships there are no listings that i have seen on the wiki or other wise that say i need what ever in faction points to get somthing, and there is stuff in the game that i should by level be able to get that i cant.
