As far as content goes, there are some pretty out of the box things to do, if you set your mind to it. Example; I'm writing up a macro with the goal of bringing someone from any sector anywhere to any other sector. After surveying several systems, it seems like the Devs designed the universe so that an accurate auto-pilot bind could indeed be created. It's turned out to be a larger project than I imagined. Even at this point, I've just started to begin to start getting ready to begin, but it's more rewarding to do something unique like this, that other MMO's like Warcraft just don't allow. I'm hoping to be remembered as the first person to complete this particular 'mission'. Think about it.
as reply to the topicstarter.
Yes, correct there are no hints, no breadcrums, nothing.
so yes the actuall game is made for guys willing to explore, willing to find out on their own or willing to communicate with others and ask questions.
BUT this i would say is the main advantage of the game in actuall state.
because there is also noone begging you for money/credits whatever, there are no real noobs around which just screw you game by spaming the "barrens chat" (a beginner area in wow is called the barrens. you enter this zone, you leave the general chat channel because of just stupid conversation and flameings between lowlvl characters)
So you have a game with a real community. the playerbase in VO consists of thinking individuals and not just kids, pk's or whatever playerstyle annoyed you most in other MMO(RPG)'s.
Then this game is - right, not obviously - centered around Player versus Player combat, there is no real grind like other mmo's, there is always fun, you get rewarded for aynthing you do in one way or the other.
money is not worth mentioning you just have it... so this is one of the very few games i know which point directly to having fun. if you consider pvp fun, this is your game.
there are no hints for this but that is what the game is about.
so i just started being a noob myself but talking to people made me leave my homezone for heading into greyspace after one day of playing... meanwhile after the 3rd day of playing, i am quite close to my next aim, a vulturis.
i battled players, i saw the nation war, i love mining and collecting, and i only visit my itani homezone for doing the botkill stuff for getting a valkyre one day...
most imporatntly just do what you want. you want to mine stuff and you station has no mining mission offered? make a delivery and ask there again for a mining job...
honestly the content is not hidden or secret but you need to read the wiki ask people, SHOW intrest, then this game is what i was looking for quite a long time. a game where pvp is not a loosy made feature coming with patch xy, instead the whole game is buildt around it and no real penalties. that's what fun is about.

Great post, Shaded! Though 100 *is* the Vendetta Barrens chat sometimes :)
Well, it's interesting my topic hs garnered such attention. That's good, I wanted replies. :)
As I said earlier, I'll play the game leisurely until my subscription runs out and I'll be trying to find more of the game, as such. ;)
And it's also quite obvious this game harbours a very special breed of players. That's meant as a positive statement. Feel free to discuss things, it may do some good (this topic was never really meant to be about me, but about the game) I'm unlikely to post that I've seen the light or anything.
Regards, and thanks for all the thoughtful replies,

When I read 'special breed of player,' I immediately thought of yoda...
I think the real issue here is that the station interface is a lot more like a station interface, and a lot less like a game interface. It feels more like the real thing.
Yes, I'm aware that the real thing does not exist yet :P
[edit]BTW, that's a Good Thing, even if it sets the bar a little higher[/edit]
