Whats new?

Hey all,

I dont know if anyone remembers me, but I used to play this game in the alpha and beta. Which now that I think about it was ages ago. What has changed in this game?(last time I left it there was quite a bit of grinding and promise of captial ships). Reason im requesting this is because I have not been on this site since I stopped playing and 2 years is quite a long time so I do not even know where to start to look for the updates and additions. I am thinking about rejoining, but want to know what im about to get myself into.

Also I noticed before I left that the world was a tad barren, is it still so?

Also I am sorry if the changes are "too numerous" but any updates would help

do you mean player controlled cappies or just cappies in the game at all?

capital ships in the game at all. I have actually been going through the wiki... so much new stuff. It has actually answered alot of the questions I had, but I would still like to know, how barren is the environment? From what I remember what usually ended up happening was, I kill bot after bot and then rarely run into another player. Do you run into others(not counting starting areas and PVP missions) alot?

Around the Summer of 2006 to November 2006, VO was bursting forth with life and it was good. Then the life giving rain stopped and there isn't as much but we are pushing our 4 man rain dancing team to get us some more.

There are a some people around that may show up. Grey Space is a very active spot for some of us.

If you place yourself in the right areas, you run into other players, also you need to be on at the right times.

While random encounters are not as uncommon as they used to be, it's still not something that happens all the time.
Some missions have brought people together (Hive Skirmish, for example), but for the most part, it's loneliness in the black.

That is, unless you go looking for people. There are more people to go looking for now.

Capital ships are floating around in the game on a fairly regular basis, albeit they're only NPC-flyable for the time being. A lot of the change since beta has been back-end stuff that you won't normally see(things like Deliverator, and then Kourier when Deliverator stabbed itself in the face). There's a new interface(I think, been through a lot of those), a large chunk of the new economy is going to be rolled out as soon as it stops breaking things on the test server, accomplishments, ribbons, mission editor open for public use if you join up as part of the Player Contribution Corps(PCC)[affects test server unless missions are approved and moved to production].

A bit more people nowadays, you can usually someone in Latos H-2 or Sedina B-8(usually Latos H-2 now though). Then I guess there's usually people doing Border Patrol/Skirmish(Cap ships fighting 23/7 there) but Serco have been complaining about being severely outnumbered. Last I checked, BP/BS was also one of the best ways to level a new character. According to the VAPG, we're having a spike of new players come in, but I wouldn't count on that being permanent.

Thats cool, as long as the game is as fun as it was back in then with flight battles and has some cool new content. Honestly what I was most worried about what how they integrated the new content, or if it felt tacked on.

Also about the player issue, thats good that there are more people then in the beta and Scuba, thanks for the locs on places to go if i want some company :). It sounds good.

In November of 2006 we had some of our rainmaking apparatus explode. But, we're nearly finished with making a replacement. We're very hopeful of rain after that.
