Have we lost our way?

I have be involved in this beta test since it first became public. The progress of work the people at Guild have made has been great and is looking better for the future.
I look at this message board everyday as a way to get a feel on pulse of the Vendetta community.
I have been seeing a lot of complaining about the way people play and and conduct themselves ingame. While it is good to make note of these issues, it's not good or very productive to keep rehashing and becoming personal in our complaints. Yes I realize that there are some idiots out in the world that don't know how to behave, don't want to play by the rules or are just plain jerks. You are going to run into these people wherever you go to play online. Flaming and insulting will get you nowhere. We as a community need to stick together and make it known that that disruptive behavior and unfair gameplay will not be tolorated. How to do this in a fair and just way is up to the way the developers who are making this game. the ingame moderators are a good choice as are game guides. There always will be people that will try to cheat and are just plain jerks who have nothing better to do with their lives but make problems for others. Unfortunatly it is a fact of human nature, but we shouldn't let a few bad apples ruin it for the rest of us.
One final point, we all need to realize this is a BETA! and the testbed for the engine that will drive the final game. Entertainment is not a top priority at this point. The game mechanics need to be finshed first before the RPG aspect. I personally am glad the developers are taking time to making sure the game is done right from the beginning.

Just my 2¢ worth :-)

Agreed, but...
"Entertainment is not a top priority at this point."
It should be high up there, though, I think as the engine stands, barring a few balancing issues, it's solid. We can test the engine till the cows come home, but I think it's still important for the test, as a fetal version of the final game, to be fun, and that's why mostly everybody does it. Everybody wins, the devs get valuable feedback, and we get to have fun for free. If something makes the beta not fun, it will most likely make the final game not fun and therefore must be ironed out. But yes, I agree with you. Things should be more impersonal.
